well, i know a wedding couple that one of them cannot speak chinese and they hire wedding photographer that cannot really speak a clear english.

I think good portfolio count =)

I tink u worry too much. Be like Nike - just do it. U can try to be no 2 shooter at friend or relative wedding mah. Then stare hard hard at the person who is main shooter see how the horse run. I tink if u wait for master to come find u to teach u is wait long long long. Now no master want to teach for free, teach for money got .

Your lens already better than most people - 17to55 more than enough to do wedding - if people can use kit lens 17-70 to do wedding 17-55 sure can one. All about how u use sword - precious sword with lousy swordsman is a good as rotten metal. Rotten metal in hand of good swordsman can be precious sword.

A good master will only teach if teach u, he also do something for himself. even if make himself happy also doing something for himself. teaching u to make u happy do nothing for master. so understand how to make teaching u good for master then can find master. problem if u too bad master must spend much effort to make you into bird that can fly - why he want to do that ?

short not problem - house always got chair. chair u can stand on or make people sit in so now they not so tall ehhh. or u can do up nose style of photo - different if can make nice nice then call it ma style mah.
english good no good no problem - problem only if u say up they go round and round and still catch no ball. if that bad practice speaking more.
u want to go some where be some one - must start walking to find way - not wait for mater to come find u. start doing if u do right, then when time ripe master will come. whether if teaching for free or teaching u pay for not important - teaching never free even when u no pay money always got costs. life no freebie what u get u pay for some where some how.

Pros never worry about others spoiling their market. Pros are after all pros, they're confident and knows well about themselves and their clients.

Offering cheap services is infact good for the pros as the budget couples will not be looking for them so keeping their time free for those who want really good service.

There is no such thing.

As a newbie, if you think you could priced at a 'Pro Price' or professional rate, then WHY NOT ?

Afterall, it a 'Willing Buyer and a Willing Seller' market.

Repsect yourself and your Clients will respect you.

;) I am waiting the day for the market to mature to an extend that even the 3-year old new market entrants and players are charging at least $1,200 for a basic service in wedding day photography.

I believe that Day is coming ....

Welcome aboard !!

But of course know your own abilities and price accordingly. Charging high prices with low quality products will eventually lead to a horrible reputation and the death of your career as a photographer
