How much is the S-System?

Is about the size of the pentax 67 series, weight together with the 70mm f2.5 is about the same as a Nikon D300 + a Nikon 18-200 lens.

I had tested the prototype in photokina, the image is extremely sharp with the 70mm and the 180 f3.5 lens, all other are still on the paper, shutter sound is very very good.abit louder than the M6 with added the sound of the mirror coil.

It cannot use R lenses due to the image circle is too small for the R lenses, yes it is nice to hold, images is extremely sharp.

I have no image to show coz there do not allow me to use my own card to take sample picture.

I noticed from the Leica website that the S-system is stated as Middle format instead of Medium format...mmm...typo error? ;)

This is one of those if-you-have-to-ask-then-you-probably-cannot-afford-it kind of thing :bsmilie:

actually... its more like u walk into CP, and say 'do you have it in chrome?' kind of thing. :bsmilie:

still, it would be interesting to see it when it début. wonder if leica SG will have a launch party or something.

haha... instead of asking the price, it's so much easier to say "do u hv it in chrome?" (knowing they don't..) and then "oh, don't have ah? so how much is the black one?" :bsmilie:

after that, ".. but I still prefer chrome one leh." (chao jian :sweatsm:)

"ah, a bit too expensive from my budget.. how about lx-3?"
;)

I leica rep malaysia told me in photokina that he had heard that the price will be around euro 18K,but this is not confirm yet.

I haven't touched the camera, only seen it in pictures, hence I shall reserve my comments about the image quality & camera specs & these and that.

My personal view, I stress... my personal view... I feel that Leica is a little too late in coming out the medium format game. Where most of the professionals who can afford USD30k+ on a camera body alone would have already invested in a setup, who would ditch their system and go for an untested system for another USD40K to USD60K at least?

For those photographers who use a 35mm FF DSLR for commercial shoots maybe the next upgrade could be a Leica S2, but... why would they want to invest in the $%#@& expensive Leica glasses that could only be used on the S2 where they have an array of AF lenses cater for ALL different kinds of purposes at ONLY a fraction of the price of a Noctilux?

From what I see, on the business angle, Leica is trying to win the hearts of die heart fans who have pretty deep pockets and drive Aston Martins. A niche market where identity plays an important part. I really hope they do really well for this group of users. Whether they are large or small, that really have to depend on the number of Aston Martins on the road.

it is not medium format it is new format which nikon are fighting for its 36X36 MX(or 40X40MM) in Feb 2009, nikon will announce....current FF 135 digital system still can keep for a while but almost all FF lens (90%) need to redesigned to cover the soft corner in 36x24 ccd /CMOS... SO THIS is why they aim at little big format like S2

canon big mount system (I met its out door reviewers in NZ 3 months ago by accident)

NKON MX Feb 2009 (confirmed)----some nikonian want my mouth shut since it will affect their sale..hehe..

Pentax stick to its sub D645(smaller than 645, but biger than FF, similar to S2, kodak CCD also), pentax may give up FF.

CONTAX new 645 will be back soon

only SONY dont do anything....anti-shake MF is not easy...
