You might wanna try out the Sony R1.. the effective 24-120mm Carl Zeiss lens is superb and it uses the same CMOS sensor as the Nikon D2X. :)

R1

If theres just 1 camera + 1 lens to choose... the R1 is IT. No dust to worry about, ever.

may move back to a P&S and forget all this dSLR thing. 1 fix lens system.

Went for a talk on photography...the challenge is not to relay on the equipment by see with your heart. If many professional journalist can and is using just P&S in their work there must be a reason to it.

:what:

Blu, let me know if you giving up your 14-54. :bsmilie:

Still undecided. :dunno:

is there a oly adaptor to nikon mounts ?? if so i am interested in the 500mm mirror

hello...I have not decided to sell my stuff yet.

That 500mm mirror is not worth it. I would not even advice you to get it. So far, only Tamron ones have some promise.

Hi Blu

Can I ask what is the purpose of this thread?

Bro Micro...at the point when I started this thread, I was seriously contemplating of jumping ship. I was prepared to turn my back on the 4/3 and just moved on to another system. Why this was so,..I sent in a P&S of another brand for service and wast treated with dignity. Even though the camera was 3 years old, they were willing to take in the camera to see what was wrong. The service on receiving the camera did not even mention the $$$ and the charges.

A week passed, they say they could not repair due to the parts have not arrive or could not be sourced but offered me a brand new camera at the cost of service. I asked them why...their policy was a camera must not be kept in their service longer then 2 weeks. to me that was WOW!!!!.

My 14-45 was with Oly for 1 whole month before it's repaired and the E-330's problem could not be solved. Yes my E-330 was at the end of it's warranty. But when I collected it, I did not fully test the camera and only found the 10X in Mode B was no longer functioning. I called them and 1st thing Oly said " It's chargeable as the camera is no longer under warranty" Why mention $$$ when you have not even seen the camera. It could be a mistake service did.

Pouring more acid to the wound was the the news that the beloved E-330 is also at it's last round. That flat top/poron mirror design had been scraped. :( So my idea of getting a future articulated LCD/LV camera ends with the E-330. There will never be another E-330 body with IS or 10mp and etc. :( So what's the point of holding on.....

A friend, with close ties with the development, convinced me to hold on. there is something that's worth keeping/ sticking to the 4/3. hence, I am still hanging on to my 4/3 till further notice.

So bro micro..I hope this explains why I started of this thread.

BTW, Please lock and dispose of this thread. It's now no longer required. I am still using and will continue using the E-500 till further notice...hopefully I don't need post all this in the market place.

You know Blu, it is quite sad to read your story on the bad service you are getting in Malaysia. It is disheartening to see you, a part of this community, having enjoyed sharing all your shooting and pics, having to face such a problem that, honestly, is hard to solve.

I hope people in Olympus will have a chance to read this thread and reconsider their positioning in the market. No point making absolutely wonderful products and having bad after sales service. This will cause a lot of people considering into the platform to shy away from it. I believe with your thread here, and the amount of people that access CS, Malaysia will see one of the lowest growth in Olympians over time. Fortunately things are changing for the better in Singapore, and over in HK and Taiwan (and of course Japan), service centres of Olympus are taking their jobs pretty seriously.

Maybe it is time for Olympus to consider what some other companies are doing, and that is to outsource the service to more enthusiastic people and take the load off their hands if they cannot handle them.

I can totally understand your position in this, and since we already have a few threads about the bad service in the past (and some are still happening at the moment) over in Malaysia, let's not continue to add to this thread but further discuss this in the original main threads. OK? Shall close this and leave it to rest.

Yes, there are certainly new things to look forward to from Oly in the next 12 months, and like you, I am anticipating for their release.

Olympus can sort these things out, with service especially. Give them time to grow and upgrade themselves. Remember that Oly has got international warranty policies, and you have friends like us to help you. Don't be stranger like how you are so involved in this community.

Happy shooting, my dear friend, and pano-addict! Hope in time, the bad after sales service will be a thing of the past as Olympus start to gain traction in the market and have a larger user base. Cheers.
