I'm a newbie with SLRs, and would like to find out the market price for a secondhand EOS30. (assuming good condition and 1-2 year camera)

This would be my first film camera and the Elan 7e really appeals to me, esp the eye control plus other features.

Would appreciate any feedback, esp anyone who has gotten a second-hand one, or planning to sell...

hey shay, look here

i own the eos33, very capable cam. new@The Camera workshop should be about 650-700 for body alone (eos33) so eos 30 should be a bit more. but its prob a gray market product.

Thanks!! Now that you mention gray market... I wonder how much is a gray market EOS30...

I mean, I might as well get a gray EOS30 than this guy's EOS30 without anymore warranty. At least it's brand new, am I correct or am I missing a point somewhere? :dunno:

diff between 30 and 33 is jst the ecf..good to have, won't die without it. i would go fora new body since i'd be using it for a long time. not that 2nd hand isn't good, i just like peace of mind, esp if i don't know the owner...

i do own 2nd hand lenses.

anyway if the diff between a new body (gray mkt) and a second hand is 50-100...i say go for the new body if it doesn'trequire u to break yr bank to get it saying this, i think a gray mkt eos 30 would set u back about 700-750

Thanks mate!! dilemma... how how? I guess it's a battle between 600 second hand a gray for 700+ new...

The gray seems like a better deal to me... do you know where to get grays? Only place I know is Sim Lim, but their reputation is so bad, I hate to deal with them... Sometimes see their faces also sianz already!! ;(

CP doesn't deal in grays do they? :dunno:

the camera workshop@peninsula,the one which is connected to peninsula hotel.

the guys there are quite alright, but weekends are busy times so best to go weekdays...

the 2nd hand stuuff they sell comes with 3 months store warraty i think.

avoid sim lim unless u know someone there u can trust, or if u really do yr homework about prices and accessories' compatibility and such.

TCW has EOS30 for sale, was quoted 800 (gray) at the start of this year, maybe prices have dropped. There is a date version for 50 bucks more. The eye-control is definitely a plus if you shoot photojournalistic, literally look-and-focus. Try to get them to bundle it with a lens like the 28-105 f3.5/4.5 USM mk2. might get a better price getting it together. better still, get the 28-70 f2.8L
