How many of you own a vertical grip?

oddly enough, for me, the option to use AA batteries is one of the main reasons i like vertical grips. it just feels good to know that in the event that something does crop up, i can always attempt to procure standard batteries in a pinch. it hasn't happened yet, but you never know.

Rechargeables are the best option.
Rechargeable AA's?
Yes of cos. That is if u're planning to use AAs.

i don't consciously plan to use AAs when i shoot, not when i have rechargeables and access to power outlets. nevertheless, it's nice to have that option availed to me should the need ever arise.

I have grips on all my Alphas. But not for the following reasons:
1. Look pro - I am not pro, don't look pro and don't intend to act like one.
2. Prevent chicken-wing syndrome - I don't mind, nothing to be shy about.
In fact, grip and extra batteries come with a price...heavy, bigger and stronger bags to hold them.
But for the following reasons:
1. Balance - My lenses are old heavy metal casing type.
2. Better grip - I don't have large hands but still I find the cam with grips add that extra area to grab hold providing a good sense of security especially with the heavy lens.
3. Battery life - For the A350, with live-view and hence I tend to rely on that pretty often (the view finder is pathetic) so extra juice is helpful. Live-view is also useful when doing macro shots at awkward positions...leading to more draining of juice.
4. Still on battery life - As my lenses are old and heavy, auto focus sucks much juice too.

Because i have big hands so I need the grip to get a better grip. get it ;p But seriously, the grip is to have a better hold on the camera because of my heavy lenses

Maybe am getting older, where am seeing myself appreciating compactness and being light weight even more...my BG-E6 is resting in the dry box 90% of the time I bring out 5DII. It's only when I'm called up to do some long event coverage assignment then I have it on.

I like the idea of smaller lighter cheaper. Thus I do not own one. I carry more rechargeable batteries and I charge them whenever I can. If I do go on a trip that may potentially cause me to be unable to charge my batteries for a longer period of time, I may get one in the end just in case. Or I will buy more batteries and charge them all. If not needed, I will never get one. It is just paying money to get sore shoulders and arms.

More than 50% of the users here do not remove battery when storing the camera ( I kinda read it some where on a poll or normal thread)
They also do not remove the lens when storing their equipments.
Judging from the above stats, i think you more likely will get "No" for an answer.

Most dry cabinet, even the smaller 30l ones should have no problem storing a body with grip in the upright position. The tray height should be adjustable one, so just adjust the tray position to fit. I store mine upright.
mine is 60l one... That would waste 2 deck
s height.... mine is a d200 + mb-d200.... pretty taller...

erm, you tray height not adjustable one? What I was saying is adjust the tray height, not remove that tray. You can use the those trays for storing smaller lens. And erm...d200+grip is the typical size of a semi-pro+grip ma.
