other than the advantage of using an MN-20 and a higher shooting rate, which i doubt i'd use anyway, any other advantage of getting the MB-23 over the MB-21?

There's several advantages to the MB-21 over the MB-20, though in a lot of cases these won't apply to many amateurs.

1) Increased body weight and mass of the MB-21/23 balances the body better with the heavier zooms like the AFS 17-35, 28-70, 80-200 and with any of the long Nikkor primes (except the 300/4 which is a lightweight).

2) Vertical grip. It works quite well, though it's limited to a shutter release button (and associated functions) plus locking ring for enabling/disabling the release.

3) Additional power supplied to the camera. This does become noticable when using AFS superteles, in particular shooting long sports sessions.

There's one long term advantage of the MB-23 though, reduced operating costs over a period of several years if shooting professionally and using a fair amount of film.

i totally agree with fundee here...the dials and the body itself....totally sexy and attractive... can't compare to the f5 in terms of performance(maybe?) but its more appealing in terms of appearance...

;p

i think these are the 2 reasons why i'm looking for either the Mb-21 or 23....

I agree, the F4 is a more sexy looking camera and has definate advantages in use over the F5 as it's ergonomics (grip in partucular) is a bit more comfy for my hands. However there's two partucular features where the F4 slays the F5, namely, matrix metering with AIS lenses and the film rewind system.

However, with a bit of adjusting in photosecretary the F5 offers a range of performance enhancements that the F4 just can't come close to.

Either way, both are very capable cameras in the right hands.

Anyone has the instruction booklet? Looking to buy, if not photocopy one. I know the camera is more or less fool-proof but just like to read it (bought mine w/o one).
