BTW, the dual battery charger isn't very good... it's a sequential charger apparently, not a parallel charger... so it means one battery gets charged at a time... the switch over to the next battery is automatic... that's about the only advantage... for me I would just get another ordinary battery charger and I can get two batteries charged at the same time... faster, lighter and definitely cheaper?

Yup, I got a 3rd party charger. Together with my default charger, i charge both at same time.
Abt memory, 40GB should be enough for now. If not, if can, get 1 over there (pray hard) else got to del some photos or limit myself lor. External storage, I think I prefer a portable card reader with HDD than a netbook. Just slot in the card, go bath n come back, done. Back home then transfer n edit. ;p

Haha! Sorry to tell you that your batt grip been destory by the batt as I no take out from it. But I place ur SLR in dry box leh, dont know why still kaboom! :angry::bheart:
Your SLR makes me go FF la. If not ur SLR let me sees what 50mm is like in FF body, I also wouldn't bother to get a DSLR at all (too ex!, but worth)
Some time preview too much, also jialat la. Will get more batt when need. Hope you happy over C side, got 5D mark2 or not? ;p

On this topic, IMO, if you use lenses with SSM, the batt is going to drain real fast. If possible use non-SSM lenses. Just my experience.

How much is A850 and CZ16-35? Got SSM?
Main killer still has to be the LCD. Tried & tested the a850 @ SIN last yr & find that if I don't do much preview after shots I can take the usual amount of shots (800 shots) on a single batt with SSM lens (24-70).

Low Vit M liao. Even 2nd hand also can't afford. Still need to go China + (maybe) a netbook/portable HDD. You sold off ur C stuffs, come back S side la. The price is ok for a FF body mah. If I can afford, so does u.
still puzzle me that you actually need more than 2 batteries and 40GB card with the external storage device? wow that's a lot of gear... are you travelling to some remote area without electricity is it?
Assuming that I shoot 3 portrait sessions a day, generally will use up 18 GB of card and 1 battery. Note, I don't preview not excessively check the LCD for shoot. So each battery should last me 600-800 shots.
If I were to shoot a whole day of wedding, generally will go through 3 batteries and normally a resultant of 2000-3000 images shot if I am trigger happy with some 60-80 gb card.
Normally 2 batteries is enough for a day or two of shooting.
With A850 and grip and 2 batteries and heavy 2.8 lenses, it is physically challenging...
Anyway, if you have the money, then why not lar... but is it necessary?

Agetan, true that it will be heavy if I am out with a lot of gears. Current setup with tripod, abt 5kg liao n I walk ard with it and got back ache after that. Mainly I dont excerise much, so, a bit of weight kills my back. But in the end, I got the photos which I wanted, I am happy. Just take the back ache as a form of excerise, haha!
I also dont trust Sony batt well due to a bad experience on my video camera. Be safe than sorry and furthermore, I going to china in a tour group. Batt need to be good/enough else will be missing a lot of nice photos. Maybe I wouldn't return to the same places again, so, enough batts for a safer trip. :sweat:
I will use this trip as a benchmark. If I need to have extra batt, I will then purchase. Abt memory, still thinking of getting a external storage, as in back up or storing. :think:
