How Long Did Your Last Washing Machine Last?

for washing machines,

really......get the AEG (unfortunatly, its now no longer under German control.....such a pity..hopefully they don't break down like other machines....)

or Miele Professional (drools.....)

have used, Whirlpool, Samsung, AEG b4 and will not spare any thoughts to dish out the $$$ for a good, long lasting washing machine... (i.e. u MUST take care of the washing machine oso lah...)

Still using my old japanese WM, more than 10 years now. When first bought it, got a friend to build a portable platform with industrial wheels for me, so I can move it in and out of the store room. Also, since it is on a platform, it does not get wet, only internally, and when it needs to relieve itself.

Other than that, am happy with it.

Cheers!

PS: Miele .... dream kitchen/washer/dryer combination!

Still using the good old Sanyo Egg top loader washing machine. I think it's about 10yrs liao bah.

we're using Brandt. so far so good!

Was using a Sharp one. Lasted for almost 10 years before the thing finally called it quits (it's like, the machine worked for half my life!)

Been using a cheapo $349 Samsung 5kg model for 12 yrs. No issues so far.

Very often, noise is caused by damaged bearings.
Using the right type of washing powder (i.e. low suds) is important.

For example, the ever popular FAB is good for hand wash but not necessarily good for machines. They generate a lot of bubbles then overflow/spill outside the drum into the bearings. The detergent washes away the grease which eventually lead to early failure of the bearings.

Washing machine generally lasts longer than iron, rice cooker, vacuum cleaner, juicer, etc.

Someone mentioned Brandt....heard quite good. I used to have a 20 year old Hoover till we decided to retire it due to water consumption. I think most washing machines are quite durable.
