I have got a senario which i am unable to overcome.
eg. I own a SB800.
its 12am at night and im trying to take the ground floor(im on the six) which settings shld i get.
i have tried "M 1/1" or sth. ISO1600 guide number only 6m...
is there a way to make it flash even further?:D

put your flash on the groud flood and get another SB800, use wireless to trigger it... hope it can ;)

6 floors should be able to reach.. i am on the 10th floor and my flash can reach an accident that i took pics of on the road below. direct lar of course.

i was shooting at f2.8 tho. wat's ur aperture?

my guess is the 50mmf1.8 at f1.8

unless he using small aperture....

...or the zoom setting on the flash is manually overwritten to wider instead of longest?

...or the flash 'condom' is on?

...or the flash head is not direct forward, but bounced off from a card?

Just some wild guesses/brain-storming. Hopefully got 1 right to solve the problem.

Strange! why 6m only?

just check with the sb800 and a camera, M1/1, ISO 1600, to get 6m only, you need to shoot at f20.

f20????
Why you need to shoot at f20?? more DOF from 6 floors above??? :bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

for flash full power, ISO1600, f5.6 can reach 20m, is about 6 floors distant already.

Get a flash extender frm TCW
$70
Or make your own at less than $5. After that can extend your zoom all the way to about 100m. But must use 300mm or more as the flash will be concentrated to a very small spot.

Go down to the ground floor better... ;) .

Did your SB-800 is on your camera's hotshoe? Did build-in diffuser on SB-800 is on?
