how far have camera phones gone?

Very often, i wonder that limited by that small little hole and the thickness of the mobile phone, even if the lens is made by carl zeis, how far can the camera go? The camera phone can never compare to a real camera. I've almost never used the camera in my hp at all.

I just purchased a Sony Ericsson K810i cos I am sick n tired of being in situations where I was without a camera and a lovely photographic opportunity presented itself. I found Sony Ericsson's camera phone photos far better than my old Nokia's (n73)or Samsungs(13.5)! Worth a try.
