Ugh; just realised I have a hot pixel in my one month old 5D. Any advice?

Is it in the LCD or the CCD? If its the CCD send it to sony at Wisma Atria.

I believe it's in the CCD. I just ran a deadpixel test program, and the image kept showing up in the same spot.

The camera's just a month old though - is this sort of thing covered by the warranty?

Thanks!

I think better give them a call first to check out instead of going personally.

I understand that it is possible to "remove" the problem by remapping the CCD through changing/resetting the camera's date to the 1st day of next month. You can search in CS or on DPReview forum for the technique by searching for threads using "hot pixel".

cheers,

I just tried the autoremapping through date-change - and wow - it worked exactly as said. Not sure if the dead pixel's gone totally, but it's no longer visible in pictures, and the deadpixel software no longer registers the faulty pixels anymore.

Hopefully the problem doesn't recur again. Thanks all for the advice, and it's saved a trip down to Wisma.:)

just re do if reoccur...
he..he.. do remember to always check before doing important pic taking though..
