I just use SB600 direct flash.:sweatsm:
Surely diffuser will give better results.

I use aperture-priority mode.
Photos are in raw format originally. So maybe it can recover something in the editing process?
Some backgrounds were too bright so I darkened them. Matrix metering was not accurate in some cases... :sweatsm:

Actually apart from shadow issues, and close potrait, Direct flash will actually gives you a better and more contrasting colour.
