Hong Kong Equipment Prices (will not be a sticky)

Hi Guys,
Newbie here. I am going over to HK about 2 weeks later. Thinking of getting E520 with a walkabout lens, maybe ZD 11-22mm f2.8/3.5.
Been looking around, but not sure besides WingShing or ManShing, any other reliable shops selling Oly stuff?
This shop CAM2 has posters. Is it good?

Cam2 prices are ok only.

You should go to the usual suspects. Kowloon Life or Wing Sheng/Man Sheng. The former offers the best price. Tell Paul you are the friend of the Singaporean Olympus guy...

I am in Japan now and had surveyed few camera shops (ie. Mapcamera, Fujiya, Yodobashi, Biccamera, lemonsha, Kimura, etc) but I found that the camera price in Japan is not really attactive. Example: a used Nikon AF-S VR 70-200mm f2.8 lens is selling around 170,000 yen (SGD2,151) to 190,000 yen (SGD2,404), the new unit is selling above 200,00 yen (SGD2,531).

Initially I planned to get a used unit in Japan but I am changing my mind to get a new unit from Hong Kong as the price different is not much (used vs new). Do you know any other camera shop in Japan which is selling used lens at lower price? :lovegrin:

i agree with u. it has been my impression too that prices in japan are not that great. unless u cannot get the item elsewere. also, hk prices also touch and go. i think overall, best prices still internet usa. but of course perhaps depends on wat u looking for...i was looking at lenses.

Thanks for the update bro. If you took a name card from them, you can always call Uncle Paul for the latest prices and availability. In fact, I usually call him to order stuff for me before I head over to Hong Kong to pick them up.

Yup, you are right. Look for Paul and tell him that the Singaporean Olympus shooter sent you... usually he will quote a better price. Not by loads but still decent.

Not sure abt Kownloon Life but Tin Cheung at Tsim Shai Tsui charged me 2% for CC pymt. I saw DBS bank in HK and I think you can actually draw cash using your ATM card.

As long as you see "Plus" logo at the ATM machine, u can draw from your ATM card.
