Can anyone tell me or provide me some names to Hong Kong camera shops? Please provide reliable ones.. e.g. Cathay Photo equivalent.

I heard in general Hong Kong prices are cheaper. Want to get some stuff there perhaps..

I am plannig to go on a buying mission to HK myself

Are you going to call these shops (only DCFever's email is available in that page)? If so can you also ask for the price of D200 body and tell me? I am planning to go in 2 weeks time and wanted to either call or email them just before. For the record below are the gear I want to buy from there, hope I have a good saving from Singapore prices to pay for the flight+hotels!

There is going to be a GST issue (since the stuff that you're buying is way way more than S$400), but from a practical perspective, has anyone been stopped at the 'Nothing to Declare' lane when returning to Singapore with the lenses / camera bodies?

Nikon D80 Body at HK7100 (S$1449).

Street prices should be lower.

its not worth buying camera body or lens in hk for canon cause singapore is the distributor for asia...thats what i was told.

Why is that so? I'd probably understand for cams coz it's covered only by local warranty. But according to Canon HK's webby, lenses are covered by an international warranty.

If you r the type who requires the 1 yr warranty, only get lens from HK as the lens come with international warranty, but not the body (local warranty only).

Anyone going to HK should really get their hands on a lens or 2. It is really much cheaper compared to SG pricing. How I wish the EF-S 17-55 F2.8 IS was already out when I went HK early this year . Seems the price of one there is about $200 less.:bigeyes:

anyway, I recommend the store "Tin Cheung" in TST. The pricing is good and sales person is friendly and obliging (at least the one I talked to hehe).

The other reliable ones like Man Shing and Wing Shing are not bad too, but service is a bit like AP in singapore. Very crowded and if u r not good at getting the staff's attention, might get ignored.
