Hi All,
Just want to clear up some doubts. Am in HK now and I checked a few stores for Canon lenses and all of them still tell me that there is still international warranty for their sets. Is it true? I know that Canon cancelled their international warranty since Oct last year. Hope someone can please clear my doubts. Thanks so much in advanced!!

I was in HKG last week and I found that with the appreciation of the HK$ over the course of the year, it's getting really hard to find good bargains.
I visited echo, photo scientific, kinephoto & miramar, tin Cheung, man shing n wing shing etc in central, Tsim sha tsui n mongkok. Was looking specifically at m4/3, zeiss n canon stuff, so not sure about Nikon n other brands.

good day! been researching about echo photo & audio. seems it has a good reputation. ill be in HongKong this end of December. Planning to buy a Tamron lens. its my 1st time to be in HongKong, will be glad if someone can help me on how to get there. ill be staying in L'Hotel Nina. thanks.

Having just arrived back in Singapore from Hong Kong today, I would like to share about my experience at Echo Photo and some of the shops at TST. I stayed at TST, so they are walking distance from my hotel. After reading the favourable comments about Echo... I made the mistake of going there to buy something without first researching on the pricing. Went there and told the staff(not Mr Yip... he wasn't there) that I was introduced by Roland and I was looking for a tripod and he introduced me to a few tripods... Saw the Manfrotto YB7302 and he told me he could give me a discount(the price tag on the boxis HKD 1865) and sell to me at 1180HKD. Thought that I had a good deal and went ahead with it. After converting back to SGD, it's about $200. Anyway, later I went to the Manfrotto HK website and discovered to my shock that the recommended retail price is HKD1070. Searched on CS and realized that it can be bought at Cathay at about $190... anyway, I have learnt my lesson. But my advice to ppl going to HK... that it is still important to do your research even though a shop can come highly recommended. I'm not blaming Roland for this, since it's really my own fault for not checking in the beginning.
Went to the Champagne Court B at Kimberly to look at the second hand lens... good range with some offering good pricing. Saw a Tamron 28-75 F 2.8(Nikon) selling for about SGD350 and can be further negotiated(I didn't try since I did not want to buy that.) People are selling that second hand on CS for $420-$500. Also saw a Nikon AF 8mm F1.8 selling for about SGD400(HKD2400), and the boss offered a further discount to HKD2200 without me asking. Wanted to buy, but wife was very impatient to go for her shopping. Learning point.... don't shop for lens with wife.
Went to the Sim City at Shan Tung Street near Mongkok as I wanted to look at their Billingham bags at Tin Cheung. Many camera shops on the various floors selling good range of cameras and accessories. Bought my Billingham leather straps at 250HKD there. Not so sure if I have been overcharged though. Saw another shop selling second hand cameras... with a Nikon D700 selling at HKD12000. Not sure if it can be further bargained.
Apliu Street at Sham Shui Po was basically a gigantic electronics pasar malam, with a lot of camera accessories and other stuff for sale. Cheap MIC tripods can be bought at HKD70-80. Bought a quick strap there for HKD138.
All in all, I must really thank Roland for the info here. Appreciates his effort and the info really helped me a lot.

according to price.com/hk .. looks like the items i want to get have increase in prices as compared to when i check last month..isit because its December or anything to do with floods..aww.. guess ill have to plan not to go around this time next time.

AFAIK, Manfrotto tripods price in HK is not that much different than those in SG so you are not that much off.
BTW, I am not Roland, Roland has a blog also talks about buying camera stuff in Hong Kong [HERE]
As you have found out, Hong Kong's camera/lenses second hand market is a lot more mature and therefore they are priced more realistically as compare to Clubsnap's B&S section. And buying 2nd hand items requires the person to be more knowledgeable since every item is unique and without warranty (in most cases).

hi all, any advice on buying camera/lens at Hong Kong airport? Because i will just transit there for 2 hours only for my Japan trip. Should i get my camera/lens in Hong Kong airport or in Japan? Appreciate very much for your advice.
