prev you posted that the 70-200 f4L IS is ard HKD8400 but on price.hk, it is HKD9500, difference of 1k.

i not sure how much cash to bring, any insights on this?

You need to see the date of posting.. usually its -+1000 HKD. Just change abit more? It wont hurt.. its 1000 HKD not 1000 SGD. Prices change over time..its not possible to give you a accurate figure..

Eyes a bit groggy after wading through 40 over pages... but I have a trip to HK at of Nov.

I am buying a Canon 10 - 20 mm UWA and not worry about "river" goods. Just want to buy a brand new lens instead of a 2nd hand one. Base on the thread, I have narrow down to

Echo : Does Mr Yip carries gray sets of lens?
Alternative is the other shop Tin Cheung which does carry gray sets.

Does anyone knows the average HKD to SGD rates in Hong Kong right now?

There are so many online sources where you can check the exchange rates.
Different place offers different rates.. In most cases the exchange rates is around 6
Bad times 5.8 and good times you can get 6.4
(above rates are SGD to HKD)

Tokina 11-16 from mr yip can be hk$4750. Must negotiate no matter what, with international warranty.
FYI, only tokina has international warranty of 2yrs to what I know. And CP honors it.

hey i'm new to this photography forum as well as buying cameras in hk. i'm just wondering, is it more popular to buy lens than camera in hk? because it seems so. i'm dropping by hk this month and i would like to buy a new camera coz my old one died and i'm a strap-on-cash student.

i'm looking at the sony nex c3 at the moment and also the lx5 and s95 if i decide its too much to spend. based on the "suggested retail price" of the sony nex c3, the hk price is about 200 bucks cheaper than in singapore at 4900HKD (S$817). when i go onto price[dot]com[dot]hk i realize that the cheapest price available is HKD$3700 (S$634). should i just order online and ship it to my place in hk?

i've also checked out the price for the lx5 and s95. there doesn't seem to be much difference from the prices in singapore. and it looks like the lumix market is small there.

oh and i've briefly looked through the thread and realize the many mention of "grey sets". i looked it up and it means a product without warrant usually cheaper by a hundred bucks? may i know where can i get a "grey set" like this?

Depends on what brand you are looking, some of the lenses carry international warranty. Most camera body only have local warranty.

When checking price, look at the current street price, not SRP. price.com.hk have both local sets and gray sets.

I've been following this thread which has been great so far. I've checked out the price.com.hk website but i realize the prices start to soar as it gets more recent. I'm interested in getting the tokina 11-16, is there any reliable prices from anyone or anywhere else I can get instead? 4980 hkd makes it barely cheaper than sgd. Many thanks in advance!

Echo audio, look for mr yip. He will quote you a price of 4900. You can nego to 4750, which I did. Haha. Cheaper than sg.
I guess due to the flood in Thai, thus the price is higher now

Really? you going there just to buy the camera? Where are you from? If u are Singaporean.. why not get it here. The saving you get there is not enough to cover your air ticket n lodging n food.
