Yes! I dig toy cameras!
You deserve a HUG, Stereobox, for initiating! :)

Hi,

Rather then "re-inventing the wheel", there's a yahoo group for Holga/ Woca/ Lomo users. http://asia.groups.yahoo.com/group/holga/

The site has been very quite, maybe you guys would want to add some life to it by posting some photos and organise some outings. There is quite a number of informative links on Holga in the site as well. Do check it out!

thank you kueko for the link!

hmm, maybe it's re-inventing the wheel, but i see no point in 'flogging a dead horse' either, right? :bsmilie:

perhaps we can all save the hassle of logging into another account (not everyone has a Yahoo! account), by asking the members already in that group who are still remotely active..to join us instead :bsmilie:

i'm sure Clubsnap has a much more vibrant and active community:)

keep the pictures, links and articles comin'!

this is damn cool man.

hope we can get more people who are interested in 'photographic' experimentation to post in here. everyone is welcomed! we are not limited to only Holga users (HUG is just a namesake!).
we hope to attract people who are not only interested in 'traditional' photographic processes, but also those who are into alternative forms of photo making and processes (cross-process, albumen printing, bromoil print, polaroid transfers, digital art/manipulation...you name it!)

hope we can create a small niche of our own here. the emphasis will not be on technical perfection but artistic expression, in all meanings of the term.

so...roll up for the mystery tour!:bsmilie:

Ok guys, I got my holga last Friday and thanks Bum for helping me out with the camera. After seeing some of Bum's pictures, tell me how you get the colors? Please be specific like what film to use and how do I tell the shop to x-process it?

Thanks in advnace. Would like to really experiment with the camera and getting all types of effects.

cross-process simply means using the 'wrong' chemistry process to develop the film you are using. example, slide film uses e-6 process, and color negs uses c-41. exchange the chemistry process around and you get unpredictable results and colors. (of course, after the cross-process, slides would become a color neg, and vice versa). there was a website which did an experiment on various cross-processes and you can use the results as a rough guide to the kind of effects you could achieve.

now..if only i can google it again..please be patient with me..

the important thing to take note about the Holga is..it has only 1 fixed aperture and 1 fixed shutter speed (namely f/11 and 1/100s). you have to work within this 'handicap' to achieve relatively 'proper' exposure (play around with film ISO speed, flash, ND filters etc).

usually the colors can be boosted/saturated in the computer. very rarely the colors that come out from the holga are exactly what you want. likewise for b/w.

holga! i love my first own camera although it's expensive to play with. where do you people normally develop your films?

hmm, haven't been 'developing' film for a long time, but i used to have them scanned at Photo Friend at peninsula.

not that they are particularly good or cheap, but the name's kinda cute hehe
