I just got my Holga 120 GCFN camera (was extremely inspired by photos on lomography.com). Now that I've got it. I need to know how to use it. i.e, what to make sure of before I take a picture/when I take a picture/after I take a picture. Also, what is crossprocessing and how do I do that? And ummm, filmsssss. I currently don't haev the 35mm film adaptor so I guess I should be looking at 120mm films. Tell me where to get them/which are the best films etc etc etc...

I need hellllp! Totally new to this oO

u can use sponge to hold the 35mm socket in place. it has been working for me for the past 3 yrs like a charm.

holgas are very simple beasts. there's really nothing to using them. if you're looking for sharp pictures, vibrant colours, then this isn't the camera for you.

before taking photo, make sure to take the lens cap off (if you've got one) that's about it.

when taking photo... ummm... nothing to remember, just take photo. don't worry about the 'sunny' - 'cloudy' setting or the focus. i find that both don't really work.

after taking photo - remember to advance the film, otherwise if you forget, you'll end up with a double, tripple (forget to wind again), etc. exposure. which sometimes insn't a bad thing.

cross processing - processing slide film using the print film process. produces overly saturated colours, unpredictable results (which is nice), but check with the shop if they're willing to do it.

film - i use 120 b&w roll film. ilford HP5 or delta are my favourites.

tip: make sure the back is secure. the backs of holgas are famous for suddenly falling open and ruining your film. you can either use some velcro to keep or rubber bands to keep it shut.

you can also use black tape if you intend to finish of the film within the week as anything longer there will be sticker marks. also if you tape it nicely people won't notice there is tape on it.;)
