Hey guys, I always heard of people mentioning to check for holes in shutter cloth when buying a film M so I did a search on how holes happened....

It is mentioned that if focus is set to infinity with aperture wide open, the lens can burn a hole in the cloth shutter within seconds. I'm wondering if I am taking a picture under the bright sun with my aperture wide open and taking my time to focus and compose, will that burn holes in the shutter cloth of my film M too?

Just don't try to shoot the sun, remember science exercise where you use a magnifying glass to burn paper using sun rays

Good point! thanks for the important tip :)

Hope that helps in a way or another... always good to keep lens cap on or try not to let the lens face up under a bright sunny day.
