ah crap must be cash!
my fren using card... =p
Bro ... don't worry I mentioned "best combination" la.
In fact in the store I patronised, its the same price whether pay by cash or credit card.
Its just that with cash, if you get it converted at a very competitive rate, you shave a few % points vs the credit card exchange rate, which translates to additional cost savings!![]()
Does that exchange rate difference make a lot of difference? I think the rates from the credit cards are pretty competitive with the money changers... also unless you are buying more than quite a few thousand dollars, the difference is really around a few dollars only very often...
Yes .. I thought so too until ....
Cannot remember exact numbers but sometime last December, we took the trouble to exchange cash as pretty competitive rates in town, the difference between cash and credit was like 3-5%!
That is an usual difference... most of the time when I am in M'sia, the exchange rate is with a few cents...
Anyone knows whether this practice of conversion to tourist warranty card is also practised in Sony Style US? If so, would be interesting as the electronics stuff there are also cheaper than S'pore.
The 70-200f/2.8G? Wah say, drop by US$600! Unfortunately, I got a reply from Sony Style USA :"... Sony does not transfer warranties from one country to another. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced"..Yes .. I would like to know too.
Especially after seeing here, the white monster drop to such a low price!
It was significant to us then ... However you need to weigh such savings against carrying too much cash!
I meant to say an unusual difference in exchange rates... I'm quite prepared to pay up to about $20 difference for the security and convenience... but most of the time I don't even bother to shop around for the best rates cos I don't carry that much cash around overseas!
free!!! pee pee macam loti (note the phrase no longer applies due to inflation)
what is sony SG trying to do? pray hard budget airlines never reach HK for $38 lo... if not they close shop liao...
Haha ... I guess you still blur
When you buy lens from HK, the local HK warranty actually is in the form of a sticker (and I think code number) on the box itself, no warranty card. Think HK residents need to go online to activate HK Local warranty.
For us visitors ... you need to bring your lens + box + receipt to Sony Style HK to convert to the Tourist Warranty like the one I posted above.
Hope this is clear![]()
Hi catseye,
Just to clear my doubts, the tourist/international warranty covers all the stuff which include the Lens, Camera body, flash gun, battery grip right? Only thing is that I need to visit the Sony Style over to convert the warranty.
If that's the case I'll seriously consider getting a A700 from HK as the price over there is hell low compared to SG! ;p
