Hi, I have been there a few times, and know many of the shops around Tsim Tsa Shui........as well as some on HK Island, but they tend to be more expensive.....

Can meet up when I am there, and managed to clean my apartment.........

Shops in Tsim Tsa Shui generally sell goods in higher prices as they target for tourists. Try to shop around in other areas to look for cheap stuffs.

like singapore you can hardly find a chinese forum/newsgroup and so hk is quite hard to find a english forum/newsgroup ....

I know some shops that don't target for tourist, they sell usd cameras but also new items too at lower prices than in Mogkok.....

I understand, but you probably agree that it not easy to learn chinese (for someone who comes from a family where no one speaks it, not even dialect)........., I just can't remember the tones, especially in manadarin. Cantonese however sounds easier to learn, though they told me there are six tones! :-(......I am an old man (93 years according to some poll result) and can't remember that well anymore, people say I suffer from Alzheimer, but I also forgot what that was......:-(

Then the writing: this is another big hurdle........though I am pretty much a visual I do tend to remember characters better.........

I speak no chinese or dialect at all, but i've been getting some of my colleagues at work to say some common cantonese phrases and sentences that i record them into my pda and then i write them down according to their sounds. I also try to decipher what they are saying when they are deep in their conversations. And little by little i sort of get what they are talking about. My favourite sentence taught to me is: Mm ho ta kip ngor, ngor mo chin. So far havent had the chance to use it...hope i never will
