can u scan xpan? how about 120 film? I don't mind paying if u have these services as well. Thanks.

sorry,my scanner can only handle 24x36mm frame and APS..
cannot scan panaromic and 120..

Some of the FAQs,

1)my scanner have those dust removal feature, but scan will be pixelated and not recommeded
2)the scan will be a 16 base scan in 3818x2546 resolution,Tiff is not recommended since each pix might be over 20mb,36x20mb=720+mb 1CD not enuf to burn. But if u insist on Tiff,i can do it for u at $10 per roll.
3)i do scan individual frames of unmounted 35mm slides and negatives at $1 each.(min $6)

pls note dat my definition of one roll is 7 strips of 6 frames or 40frames max.(the original way u get it back from developing)
if u cut a strip into 3 frames each for a roll which results in 8 strips,it will cost u $6+$1 for the scanning of the additional strip,be it a single frame or a strip of 3 frames.

thanks!

Kex's scans are really superb!
He's a very friendly guy to talk to too! Highly recommended!! ;)

hi kex,
u've got PM.

pushing this thread up too.

thanks.

Hi cheesecake,
i've replied ur pm.

It is recommended that u use a ziploc or plastic equivalent to protect those negatives/slides while mailing them to me.

Thanks~!

Hi Kex.. do you scan MF negs? If so for how much? THanks.

Sorry,
can only scan 35mm only..

heh heh... paisay... only update after so long...

okie guys, if you want good and definitely high quality scanning of your 35mm negs (colours/ slides/ B&W), KEX is the man you should go for...

just had my stuff (wedding shots) scanned and the quality is really solid, and fast! Very approachable and very willing to share on his knowledge of 35mm, MF and LF camera stuff... great guy

His scanning service is cheaper considering that most conventional labs charges between SGD$10-$12 for scanning to CD from already-developed negs.... so go figure ;)

Uppzzzz for you man!!! :)

sorry slightly off-topic or rather an extension of topic ...

besides scanning to keep for archiving, is it a good idea to:

1) scan either b+w negative, or slide, with kex at high resolution
2) then send to do a digital print at a shop that can handle at least 150-300 dpi printing (or higher, even better)

or is it a better idea to let the shop just scan and print?

i'm not familiar with the problems of digital printing but since there are all these colour profiling and balancing, the input from one scanner and the output from a printer of a different shop/brand might require further fine-tuning? or can we just send straight for printing after kex scans it?

yes,u can scan from one shop and print at another with no problems..
all competent labs will do their own color judgement and correction for every images they print,so dun worry :)

hey there,
can pm me your shop address?
i might be paying you a visit soon.
thanks.

pm'ed u my address.

Cheers~!

PM me your address too. Thanks.

Kex:

PM me your address. Tks

Yo, thanks for your help just now.
Never knew that such fanstastic service is so near... hahaha...
You'll see more of me in future. :bsmilie:

Cheers,

Sorry but may I ask what is teh diff. between high' res & 'low' res scans? And my clients always ask me 'How many DPI is the scan?' :dunno:

Thanks. At least I know where to send my negs next time

Is there discount for large number of rolls ? I have THOUSANDS of rolls from the past 10 years that I would like to archive. Bought a film scanner for this, but turns out to be really troublesome to scan them myself. If there is discount, what is the breakdown ( eg, 50 rolls - 10% off, 100 rolls 15% off, etc ).

High resolution scan will give u a resolution of 3818 x 2546 pixel
a low res one is about 1900+ x 1300+ pixel
a high res scan can easily print up to 10R with excellent results.
a low res one maybe only a 5R size.
