Not sure if this is off-topic, but since everyone here should have some interest in film-scanning.. is there any recommended software to enhance the images? Especially in colour and dust/scratches. I've some film developed in Germany at some cheap supermarket, and they turned out a little yellowish. Film hiding in my cupboard for 4 years, wonder if its still worthwhile to scan them?

Kex, you save the pictures to JPG? Whats the avg file size -- how many fits into 1 CD normally?

Yes, he does save to JPG. The average file size is usually around 3MB from my experience. However, very complex images can go up to 6MB easily.

If you need to get rid of minor scratches/ dust as well as colour shift, you'll probably need Digital ICE.

Heh.. Made a mistake.. Turns out he runs the Kodak lab.. Haven't been there for ages.. Kinda forgot that the Kodak lab existed.. LOL.. Had one roll of film developed and scanned.. Very good service.. =) Friendly guy too.. Wasted quite a bit of his time talking ****.. LOL..

However, those I developed overseas had been cut to 3 or 4 per strip (they dun even have some protective pocket for the negatives like in SG). I gather that it'll require abit more effort in scanning them coz the strips are shorter.. same pricing?

Some of the FAQs,

1)my scanner have those dust removal feature,but scan will be pixelated and not recommeded
2)the scan will be a 16 base scan in 3818x2546 resolution,Tiff is not recommended since each pix might be over 20mb,36x20mb=720+mb 1CD not enuf to burn.But if u insist on Tiff,i can do it for u at $10 per roll.
3)i do scan individual frames of unmounted 35mm slides and negatives at $1 each.(min $6)

pls note dat my definition of one roll is 7 strips of 6 frames or 40frames max.(the original way u get it back from developing)
if u cut a strip into 3 frames each for a roll which results in 8 strips,it will cost u $6+$1 for the scanning of the additional strip,be it a single frame or a strip of 3 frames.

Post process after scanning is optional,some might want to do some tweaking and spot some dust after it.

Printing of 4Rs cost 30cts each.

Not a hard and fast rule but a '150%, 1.4 pixels, Threshold 1' USM followed by a gaussian blur of 1.5 to 2 pixels can be applied to good results for the 16 base scan.

for $3.80 max 36exp.
How is the quality here compare to the Kodak one?
