Try visiting them during weekdays or avoid the shop when they are busy engaging customers and find only Willy, Florence or Jackson, that what i alway do if i want to get any thing from them
So far i bought all my cameras and lenses from them and i got reasonable quotes.
If you are a regular customer, they will give u a good price.

They do offer good services:) and living in AMK do help as travelling to town after weekday work might be a hassle for me. I am glad they are there at my door step.:)

I didn't know about MScolor until I became a Clubsnap member, from then onwards, I've bought a few camera from them.

I bought a Panasonic LX2 last year and got an equote without GST from MScolor, the price was higher then the price I asked at Alan Photo SLS.

This year, MScolor equote includes the GST. I concur that the price at MScolor has risen up but at the end of the day, it's up to the customers. However, customer service from Florence is still good to go.

Caveat Emptor.

yah.. i still find the customer service is the best among the camera shops in Singapore.

I like MS Colour for their customer service. I also agree on their pricing abit higher. Was quoted $870 for 70-300mm VR and got it at $860 after asking for futhur discount. There are bro here getting $850 from TK.

i believe it's becos MS color is in the neighbourhood, and business coming mostly from regulars and by word of mouth. That's why they need to maintain good service to keep their customers coming back and of cos, attract new customers. In sls, very difficult to get this kind of service.

just bought some stuff over at the amk hub.. price is cheaper.services wise is good and the sales person trina was patience enough to serve a fussy customer like me :) I would go again if i need anything... except the place kinda warm..

I always recommend MS Color (or sometimes CP) to friends who are looking for a place to buy cams, but almost all of them end up not taking my advice and somehow, they do manage to get better deals elsewhere. And some of these shops are at SLS. While it's probably true that you may find cheaper prices at SLS, I don't think I can be bothered to go into any one of those ah-beng shops to find out. Seriously.

I do agree that MS Color's pricing isn't the best, and I have had one bad experience with them years ago, but I think this will still be the shop I'll check out first for any major eqpt purchases.

the place kinda warm, it's becos the air con is not working, i guess. been there for a few times, it's always warm. walkway outside still cold.

i was quoted 880 with filter and gst from a shop in AMK. S$930 without filter from a shop in beach road. S$880 with no filter from a shop in rochore road where another shop above it quoted S$880 with filter. the best is from a large shop in north bridge road....less than S$850....hehehehehe....going there soon.

Like I keep saying and repeating countless times...

Frequent one store. And naturally the trust and relationship built up with a particular owner or sales person will guarantee you better prices, better service, more freebie, etc etc in the long run.

It goes the same for every shop that has more than one salesperson in the shop.

i do agree. Some shops do practise giving better discount to regulars. For some, they may not, capitalising on ur trust. So bottomline is always do your homework. If it's onli like 10 or 20 dollars difference, i guess i would still go back to the shop which i always frequent and not risk going to other shops. Afterall, 10 to 20 dollars may not be enough if i have to do extra travelling n spend more time.

I have visited MS Colour on and off for the past 15 years, but I became a regular since 2 years back. I noticed the trend for all these years and that MS Colour never offers the cheapest price on the whole. This was why I bought a lot of my camera stuffs in SLS for some time.

However, in recent years, I dawned upon me that there is more than searching for the cheapest price. It's all about customer service and convenience. I like to drop by after work on my way home and do some window shopping on camera stuffs. Or if I need a camera bag, I can buy there without having to lug all the way from CP. Or if there is a new lens, I can go and test the performance without having to buy.

All I want to say is that: MS Colour is definitely not the place to get the best bargains for all kinds of products, and price is also not the reason for me to patronise them and buy over $5000 worth of equipment. If you want service and reasonable (NOT cheapest) pricing and convenience (Northerners), then this is the place for you to hang out.

Well, then again it depends on how regular you are. And not everyone can afford to buy equipment so regularly. Despite knowing the lady boss personally, and having bought a total 4-figure sum worth of equipment in the preceding months, I was still offered a very poor price for another P & S i wanted to get. Eventually I managed to get it at a good $50 off with extra memory card from another shop, in the colour I wanted.

I'm not complaining about their higher prices. Its your choice to deal or no deal. And their service is indeed very good. Its just that many of us cannot spend the amount of money to buy things like L lens and CF tripods to qualify to be big enough customers and get special prices. That's only expected, because high net worth customers get better treatment.

So to all the hobbyists around who are not in that type of league, it will profit you to look around for the best quotation first, because we just cannot expect the type of discounts that regulars get. And regular means not just frequenting the shop, but also buying a sufficiently large amount of equipment.

really surprise that the price of the S9600 that they quoted me was even higher than Sony Bro at least about $40 ~ $50 difference after GST.

Will I get a better pricing by going down to the shop or email quote?

if you plan on getting a camera from any shop, especially Song Bros, do some research on the prices of items that you are likely to get along with the main purchase of the camera as well. eg. UV filters, extra batteries, tripod etc.

cos more often than not, they could and would offer you a delicious price for the camera, and then get back at you by selling you accessories at twice, or even thrice the price, and at the same time justifying the accessories as must-haves and making it seem as if it's all important to buy them immediately.

just don't get smoked. i hate *******s who do that to you.

be wary and happy buying. :)

yeah  same sentiment here.
bro,seldom seen you around here.:D

Actually you do not have to buy a lot from her, as long as she knows you know many people who are potential buyer, you will get a good price. I always get from them as I get the reserve my stuff, and when I have problem with the equipment, they often exchange it for me.

Actually i find you can get better prices for certain brands and higher prices for others. Perhaps its to do with their supplier lobangs? That being said I'm still going down to get some filters and a new drybox from them. Today I went down in shorts and T-shirt and still 1st class service. A particular shop in Funan and those in SLS probably won't even look at me.

They are located in the neighbourhood ma, so their regulars are those people who live nearby etc, who would actually pop by after dinner to make some purchases, or to check out any new stuff der. But if u are in shorts and t-shirt, they should serve u better (referring to the shops in sls n funan). The likelihood of you driving is higher, more potential buyer than a well-dressed person (more likely to take mrt).

I do agree that some shops in sls may charge lower. But always ask if it's with warranty, what bundle does it come with. Oftentimes when you dont ask, they simply give u the price. When you are ready to make the purchase, then u start asking if there's any bundle. They would tell u it's only the camera. You have to buy memory cards, case etc, mark up the price of their accessories.
