I'm looking out for large format printing but need some more info:

1) Generally how long do the prints done with Epson 7800 using Epson Ultrachrome K3 ink last? On Kodak luster paper, Kodak Artist Canvas Or ilford smooth canvas?
2) Do you offer cold lamination services for the luster paper or lacquer spray for the canvas and if so how much will they cost?
3) What does "with stretching" mean for the canvas prints?
4) I'm also considering sizes closed to A1 or A2 or the near photographic paper sizes equivalents. How much will these cost?
5) What is the recommended minimum pixel resolutions for all these sizes and those that you listed?

Hi,

kodak luster paper are guaranteed by kodak for 35-150yrs under indoor condition,

Kodak artist canvas are guaranteed for 30yrs under indoor condition.

i have no info on the ilford canvas,but they should be as good as the kodak one.

i do not not have cold lamination service,all canvas print are inclusive of an arcylic coat to increase the longevity.

a popular way to display the canvas is by stretching it over a wood frame.

A2 size will cost $80 for a canvas print,

A1 will cost $120 for a canvas print.

recommended resolution will be 300 dpi.

If you're not paying for quality, I fail to see why you're even looking at his services.
AFAIK, kex's rates are below what you'd get from most of the labs that offer equivalent print quality on the same papers. Quality comes at a premium.
Getting a print from those shops running plotters might be much cheaper. But you definitely don't get the same quality of prints with regards to colour accuracy & paper quality. Do you really want 80gsm plain paper 'enlargement' prints?

Pls don't misunderstand me as I'm not questioning kex's quality. Basically what I'm saying is that I've been quoted for less but I don't know about the quality of these prints as compared to perhaps kex's. Ultimately I'm acknowledging that I'm not exactly comparing apple to apple because I'm not taking into consideration of the quality of the prints for comparison but basically the prices of the sizes in question; heck, I don't even know the paper or canvas brand the other party is using. Sorry if I caused confusion but no offence intended.

the scanning i provide now is a much higher res type,the one that i used to do it for u is no longer available.

slides or negative cost the same to scan.

the printing quality is very subjective,300 dpi is the standard for high quality print,magazine quality is ard 150 dpi while news paper quality is about 75 dpi only.

the viewing distance of the final print also play a part.

generally,i would recommend a 6-8mp resolution for A1 print and a 3-4mp resolution for an A2 print to get acceptable results.

For large format prints do you recommend that we come personally to your business address or please tell what's your preference for to provide you the image file and delivery? Do you have any photo of the stretch canvas? Just wondering if it's good enough to be hung as it is or do I still require to have it framed before hanging it on the wall. Thx so far for all the info you provided. I'll contact you soon.
