I've always wanted to jump into this hobby and have been reading through this forum quite often, unfortunately for me, I've other expensive hobbies that are sucking my finances dry and as such I've a really horrid and old 2.0 mega pixel digital camera. There's a room in my house I just finished renovating that I would like to have pictures taken of. ( Its to show some of my cousins overseas what I've done with the room) Unfortunately the room is quite tight. It's 3.98m*2.78m and using any camera without a wide angle lens is real nightmare, so I'm really hoping that there's any kind soul out there that would be willing to help me out, especially if you have a wide angle lens of 10mm?

I live in between kembangan and bedok, drinks and snacks will of course be provided. :D Plus the chance to take challenging shots because the room is quite dim ( I can still adjust the lighting though) and it is tight. Hope to hear from anyone soon. :)

why not use a tripod and take panaroma pics and stitch them using free software?
then you wont have that weird wide angle distortion if ur aim is to show them ur room

I don't know why but I kinda like the wide angle distortion, kinda makes the room nicer than it really is. hahaha. I don't have a tripod, but that really isn't the problem. The problem is my camera is extremely horrid when it comes to dim lighting, even when I do turn up the light, it still looks horrible. (It seems to perform only marginally well in sun light) But with the light turned up, all the effects of mood lighting was lost. :(

longer exposure time might preserve the lighting effect..

3.98m*2.78m

With those kind of dimensions, you would need a fish eye at least - around 7 or 8 mm, and I doubt if stitching a series of 10mm rectilinear shots would be easy or look nice.

I also doubt if you could really achieve much in the way of creative lighting effects, or that any one would want to simply because the cost and time doing so would be too high for a FOC shoot.

What are your other expensive hobbies? The reason I ask is because, generally, you will almost always find a well-heeled and very expensively-equipped photo enthusiast in any one of those groups. Perhaps you could approach them?

well too bad i sold my wide angle already else it might have been fun shooting something like this :P

Simple lah, just go rent a DSLR with WA lens loh. :)

I did many of these stitching panaromic shoots. But let me warn you of the potential problems:

  1. You cannot use the wide angle mode of the lens. The converging verticals are quite a nightmare to deal with. (even with PS CS 2/3)
  2. You must ensure that the lightings are sufficient and consistent. The overlapping pics will be a problem.
  3. You will need a good graphic artist or those very competent in PS to do the stitching or it was take days to get it right.

I'm frightening ppl away just that you will consider the work involved before anyone agrees to undertake the task.

The attached pics took the graphics people weeks to sort out the background even before the montaging.

This is actually a good idea :) you'll get to play with the camera and you get to decide how u want the mood. After that you can photoshop all u want ;)

There are some threads offering pretty cheap rental per day.
