Yes please beware of these people here!

I never post in here before, but has been silently visiting this part of the forum for a while, and suddenly I find myself with a M3 and a collapsible 50 f2... and already been thinking to get a MP... what on earth is going on...? ?

Welcome Redshutter!
It's alright, you've just caught the M3F1 strain of the L virus.:bsmilie::sweat::lovegrin:
The cure is to visit this forum for more POISON.

I can attest to that - in my case pics may not always be better, but I feel very healthy carrying the Noc around every weekend....:gbounce:

Healthy or Wealthy??? Haha!

No! It's benny! Our Canon guru is the one that has multiple copies of the same lens in different variants.
Hacker is the expensive taste one! And makes lots of money re-selling lenses!:bsmilie::bsmilie:

:bsmilie: My chicken peanut assortment is hardly worth mentioning.

And I agree about Hacker. Expensive taste... he buys everything! Thanks to him, I sometimes pay more for caps, hoods, filters and even original boxes than the actual lens itself!

Cheers,

I never counted how many I have! :bsmilie:

Cheers,

Too many to count-GIVE UP! LOL:bsmilie::bsmilie:

You did mention to me the 20x Canon 50mm Sonnars...., No? Now, is it 40-50x .

With so many mouths to feed, can only sell lenses, not buy.

hi redshutter.. i totally agree with you on this..
have also been secretly voyeuring this section of the forum and ending up nicking a vintage contax rangefinder on ebay, just to find out what all this fuss bout rangefinders is about...

absolutely confounds me why i did that... don't even know much about the item, only that it's supposed to be in vgood condition and has a Zeiss Opton Sonnar f1.5 50mm lens..
hope it works though, if not i'll have quite a paperweight on my hands..

here are a couple of pics of it.. would appreciate if any of the camera gurus here could educate me on my impulse purchase.. lol..

hehehe... Warm Welcome!
Zeiss Opton50f1.5 is a great lens! In future if you go the Leica M way, you can get an adapter for it & it can be used on M.
This is my Zeiss Opton50f1.5Sonnar with Amedeo adapter to convert to M mount:

tks, appreciate the welcome by one of the resident gurus here.. ;p

you sure ain't wasting anytime envenomating your 'prey', though I gotta admit a Leica will be my holy grail for cameras...

oh well, at the meantime got to live within my means.. :(

Welcome pixelbrain,

Contax RF are fine piece of equipment. I use the Contax II, which I believe is more than 50 years old and the shutter is SPOT ON!

You are holding a Contax IIIa and with a late version of 50/f1.5 Sonnar, I believe.... Excellent glass!

If you find that it's becoming a paper weight and taking up real estate on your desk, let me know. I would be glad to have it display on my shop window. :)

The Contax RF lenses are fine lenses. Cost at least half of their Leica counterparts and perform just as well. Amass these beauties before the Leica people stir the prices up....

Here is a manual for the Contax IIIa. enjoy your new toy, it looks to be in a really good condition

Amedeo adapter ? Dang! That is rarer than teeth on a chicken. the going price for this adapter is around 250USD (no lens yet), based on a 1960s japanese design of the same adapter. Must be very nice to have Contax lens on your Leicas.

It's not so rare, mine is the older design & I paid about US$250 for it & spent another S$180 to put in an infinity stop. The new one, I heard is much more solidly made but, I think it's US$360. I think it's still worth it.
