hello, nice to hear pple still interested in black and white.
well, the thrill of it all is to do everything yaself, from composing the picture. exposing the negs to developing and to printing.

while ya can find almost everything on the net.
www.ilford.com, agfa net and kodak

but the really neccessary tool ya need is a darkroom.
if ya're studying, check are ya sch if there's one.
else the cheaper sources goes to community centres.
PSS, safra and objectifes conducts workshops too, ya can check out their webby.

more of come if there is
Tucker

Mine is a little simpler

1 Darkroom bag
2 Development tank
3 Can opener
4 Developer
5 Fixer
6 Wetting agent
7 My watch

from what you said...i'll list the prices down :

1: film clipper not really necessary, can use those big black metal clips
2. darkroom bag yes you need this - Konica Changing Bag (large) $30
3. developer tank A-P Processing Tank (plastic) - $20
4. developer agent i use HC110 - $18.80
5. stop wash agent you can just run the tank in water
6. fixer agent Ilford Rapid Fixer - $9
7. timer didnt get this, used my own clock
8. wet agent Ilford wetting agent - $8

to add, you might wanna get a thermometer. any will do.
i bought mine at $16 (too ex later i realised)

the prices are read off my receipt from ruby photo, bought on 29/11/03.

most likely the prices are still the same but there could be small changes.. im not advertising for them though! just giving u a rough guide. as for the developer choice you might want to try out something different also.. take a look at what other developers they have.. or google and find out more about what kinda results stems from different developers! good luck! hope to see your work here! :)

mine is only developer tank, rodinal, and fixer and a thermometer..never use the wetting agent b4..

I usually use water as a stop bath too. So that's one less thing to mix.

I highly recommend a little gadget from Ruby to extract the film. Much better than prying the film canister open with a can opener or worse your fingers in the dark!

hey, have we ever had a black and white outing ?

I know this will take a long for. from developing to printing before we even have a follow up photo sharing.
but, why not ?

Good Ideal Tucker !!
especially for newbie like me who wan to learn more :)

Today just visited rudy photo
Uncle dun recommend me to get the present film cilpper as it is no good :(
He told me to wait for a better brand one (forgot which brand liao :P)

I am interested in B&W developing as well. So have you bought all the stuff? If yes can update on the price? thx.

hey, it will & certaintly be interesting to see what ouctcome from the combinations of film and developer, and paper will produce, unfortunately not many of use have the luxury of time and resources to figure it out ~

well for now, it might be good to stick to lesser variables and try to get sth that works for ya.

I'm keen for an outing too~

Tucker
