Here's an interesting question - 2 lenses kit

EFS 18-55 IS, EFS 55-250 IS.

Light, got IS, covers 18mm to 250mm (28mm to 400mm). Share same Ø58mm filters, so only need to bring 1 set of filters..

usually 17-35 or 60 micro. rarely both.

but i always have an old compact wrapped in a small ziploc, tucked in my pants/jeans pocket. (i'm still hoping to be first on the scene of an accident or fight etc) wa ha ha

Hmm... I think I should revive my old compact also. I've been kicking myself for not bringing out my camera.

If really only two for all situations, my compromise will be the

Nikon 17-35mm f2.8 + 85mm f1.4 pair

17-40L + 50 f/1.4

i figure that's all i'd need for any travel without breaking my back and dust/dirt getting everywhere.

That said, im considering the 70-200 F/4 though. issit REALLY essential to have IS on this thing cos 1) i dont think i tremble a lot and 2) i dont see the point of dropping 500bucks more or so for something that's not necessary. another point to note, i hardly take shots in low light conditions and if i do, i'll just use the tripod. thnx
