Always feel free to play around there and test water at Sitex. If you do your homework and know your stuff, you will realise that you can get hilarious replies to your questions about the various cameras available at the show since most of the people selling cameras there know nuts about them. Not to say all though.

Alternatively, you can go play with the cameras at places like Courts, though it's not recommended that you buy from them.

If you don't mind being different, you can always check out the other brands. I was like you - only know about Canon and Nikon before but from reading up I realize other brands have a lot to offer too. Good luck with your purchase and always do your homework! Even some of the reputable shops at Funan may try to smoke you...

well i understand but not sure where to start though the price guides i wrote down le

Take the price guide down sitex, compare it with the fliers, see if the promotion justifies the price difference (usually it does not) and don't let any salesman sway you. Good luck hunting:)

Well many thanks looking forward to tomorrow but then heard from frens that using dslr said that normally last day to buy a cam in sitex usually have better deal?

lol... **showing peace sign**

The price usually will not drop, unless it's the display set, which I'm sure you don't want. They will throw in more freebies but like many here have said, the freebies they give are more or less useless.

tats why tomorrow go take fliers go home and slowly read

call your friends out and lets give 'em a good :kok:

hehehehee...

well, not saying that you CANNOT find a good deal at such shows...
in general, the advice you're getting is to go in with your eyes wide open. Don't be a carrot head and end up paying more for nothing.

1) shortlist a few cameras (try try at big stores such as Courts)
2) do some market research (CS price guides, e-quotes from stores)
3) go to the show (if you still feel like it) and compare prices. Do note that the 'freebies' usually have little value, so best if you can avoid buying them in the first place.

other than copying the price guide which i done le any more recommendation??

Make a list of what you need and fit it into your budget? camera bag, dry cabinet, tripod (the real kind, not the flimsy ones) etc etc...

once you got your brand new camera, stop looking at other camera.
Now is the time to start looking at lenses, tripod, bags....etc.
And go out there to shoot of course.
You can try Orchard Road in the evening to get use to carrying around a dslr sling around your neck.

call the shops and ask for the price, the guide is as good as the last update. then you get the current price.
