help! windows icons and fonts suddenly became very small

That is the last thing one should do.... Most of these problems can be solved quite easily.

was out for dinner just now ...trying out the various settings but still nothign works..DPI setting etc is normal, but it's the font sizes and menu sizes...all like ants now...

I missed out one step!

Right Click on any part of desktop (other then icons)
Properties
Appearance
Advanced
Can you see the value Item? Click on icon. Change the Size to something larger. Click apply. Is it better? Play with the various items there & different sizes till you get something that you like. You can change the font size here also. Then just save as a Scheme
