Help on dslr setup for beginner

To all,

I'm a newbie and looking to learn from everybody. I am looking at the Canon 700D-EFS18-551S STM. Does it make a good combination along with the EFS 18-55mm and 70-300mm that comes along with the package ? Or should I get the body and go for 18-135mm STM as recommended . Or should I explore looking at other lens for a newbie.

1) You should read what has been posted already, whether it is in this thread or posted in the sticky threads
2) You should look at other brands as well and compare features, functions, prices
3) You should define what you really need. If you can't define it, stick to the minimum kit and learn to walk. Once you can walk you will see which shoes (= gear) you need.

I don't think you shouldn't get the 70-300mm lens too quickly. I recommend the 18-135 kit lens because after a while, you may find the limiting 55mm local range a bit short. If you are on a budget, you can try getting the 18-55mm lens with the 50mm 1.8 as it is very cheap and can shoot well user low lighting too.

Get a sony with kit, and top 200-300 for a 70-210 f4 from BnS. Best bang for your buck.

Canon 500D + 50mm F1.8. $400 max i guess
