Help on A33

Bro, ...you're shooting with a Digital ! ...just try any combinations or settings and see (immediately) how it turns out !

...not nice ? ...just press 'DELETE' ;) ....Digital is such a lovely tool for exploration and learning.

For some strange, unfathomable reason, I've gone retro, back to 35mm film so please pardon me when I say some of the posts I read makes me wanna tear my hair out !!! :bsmilie:

because my PP skills sucked more than my photog skills, so i prefer to get it right in the cam.. if possible.. haha

You'll be surprised how many 'pple don't PP their Digital images (happily shooting away in jpeg and never touching RAW) :D

What I'm saying is don't be afriad to experiment with your digital camera ! ...unlike when I first started in photography, we have to shoot 36 shots before being able to switch from iso100 to iso400, after releasing the shutter, we have to wait like 3-5 days before we can see the results ...one mistake, and all 36 shots GONE !

I am lazy in doing PP the most i do is convert RAW to JPEG and just correct my WB or DRO or NR adjustment. My thinking is try not to enhance or alter what your eyes and camera saw. Some PP are too much e.g. portraits making ppl looks like doll... not against those who PPed some they need it coz they are paid to do it. To me two reason try not to PP 1. laziness 2. no skills in PPing lolz

Agreed ! ...the trick is to take such good photos that 'pple wouldn't believe there's no PP done, that is the hallmark of a great photographer.

Since going digital, I've found that my photography is going downhill, maybe it's due to the 'machine gunning' mentality, shoot as many as possible, then choose the best and delete the rest, no lost - no pain. Or maybe it's due to the added complexity of having to dial in the WB, ISO, color profile, DRO, etc, etc....

I'm taking a hiatus from digital, ...going back to the basic of just having to set aperture and shutter speed and worry only about the focusing and composition of the photo.
I going back to 35mm film and hopefully can re-discover the 'magic' of taking a good picture.

Wish me luck !

good luck bro!

I have a SLR at home and havent finished my 2nd roll of film. My 1st try of SLR i mess up almost the entire roll and cost me some $$ to develpo and print... learn a lot and it make me do the basics again... the most issue I have with film was the anti shake that I was used to with my DSLR used to shooting at low shutter speed with almost no blurring....

I try to shoot also again using my SLR most of my lenses are minolta so i could utilize them with my AF SLR =)

wish me luck also bro!

You'll learn extremely fast with film ! :bsmilie: ...every shot counts or should I say costs ! after awhile, you'll develop the habit of 'think first before you shoot' as compared to 'shoot first, check results then think' with a digital.

As you can only see your results several days later, it forces you to take notes and analyse what you did wrong.
For me, this can only improve your photography or else make you tear your hair out and throw away the SLR in frustration.

With film, I don't go below 1/60s handheld (portraiture)

Also with film, I'm really appreciating my collection of 'full frame' lenses.

Good luck Bro ! :D

Couldn't agree more with you on this bro! No pain no gain. With each wrong shot, money, time and efforts all go down the drain and one better learn fast unless he got loads of money, time and energy to spare!

That said, I am still not quite prepared to go back down the path of film again. Too expensive buying and developing film these days;p I am doing it the alternative way by pairing manual lenses with a digital SLR. Less pain involved but still leh chey enough to force me to think twice before I shoot! :bsmilie:

You are right ! ...there's more than 1 way to skin a cat:D ...was contemplating getting a C3 for the same purpose but instead went and got myself a Maxxum 7 with grip from Ebay followed by a Maxxum 70 and followed by a (heaven forbids) ...Canon Rebel T2/28-80mm with grip ! ...all for less than the cost of the Nex.

You might say, I'm going thru the 'cold-turkey' phase of getting rid of the 'machine-gunning' mentality ! ...shooting 36 shots a month ! ;p
