Ok... here are what I can think of off hands:
1. check the glass for fungus, scratches and excessive dusts.
2. check the focusing ring - should be smooth and not too loose.
3. check the aperture - turn the ring and it should snap at each stop, and the aperture blades should open/close accordingly.
4. check the electronics communications with camera (not too sure how this is done on Minolta as I'm a Nikon user).
5. check the AF and DOF preview (if applicable).
6. check the filter threads for skipped threads.
7. check the lens mount for bent.
8. check the lens barrel for dents (hinting that it was dropped before) and any other cosmetic stuffs.
