Help needed for speedlite sb 700

Good to hear that. Im just starting in flash photography, I also have sb-700 hoping that mine will last long.

My old SB600 and SB900 are still going strong after quite a number of years. Even my very old SB-25 is going strong. I am sure your SB700 will last too.

Thanks! I'm just a casual shooter, I maybe only use my flash when there's event - say birthday in the family, or taking portrait of my wife etc... Do I need to use the flash at least once a month? I understand that I have to take out the battery if I will not use my flash for a long period of time. Just wondering on things that I should do for its maintenance. TIA.

I only load batteries right when I gear up before a shoot. I store all my flashes without any batteries in them. Some of the flashes have been stored for over 15 years (like the SB-25) and still works when I load batteries into them.

Seems like old stuff last longer....lol

I have a lens that is almost 30 years old... and another couple of flashes and cameras also almost 30 years old. all in tip top working condition. Just take care of your equipment. You will get many years out of them.

I have never heard of this before but it sounds like good advice. Time to get more battery holders.

Just a habit... like how the people only load up the magazines for rifles right before moving out for a mission.
I will charge all the eneloops before hand.. so when i need, just grab and go.
