Help me ! I'm addicted to primes!

The only 2 things I love about primes are its speed and large aperture.

You dun really have to buy the expensive primes to see the improvements, I have a 24mm f2.8 for a while on a 8mp cropped camera, I couldn't really appreciate the sharpness of the prime until recently when I got hold of a 5D mk2. My gf loves to shoot on primes and she find auto-focus a hassle, so she usually switch it off.

Yeah definitely 2 of the major plus points. Together with sharpness, light weight, low profile, inexpensive (not all)..

Wow but this is turning out to be a real gathering of prime advocates huh ! With such support, I wonder what's the biggest argument for zooms ?

Use only one prime. :bsmilie:

My prime is not inexpensive let, in fact it's the most expensive lens I have. :p

Zoom wise, should be the flexibility.

Speed is definitely one of the plus points of prime. In addition, I like them for their lighter weights and sizes.

Lighter weight and size does not apply to all primes though.

Haha indeed... I'll like to have a lightweight 800mm! :p

I believe a person have to be contented... dun need to be weight of a 50F1.4 just it's price would do.. ;)

I am not not asking for much right? haha

For that at the price, i doubt they will give u gd quality one. ;p

You could consider using a decent to good general zoom (according to your budget) + a good prime of your choice (according to your style). Best of both words.

Image quality is really nice, but the same level of IQ may not shine in every picture. Sometimes its just not so necessary, especially in situations you can or must stop down, most lenses will catch up by F4 or F5.6

35mm F/1.4 is a wonderful lens. I just trade my 135 F2 to go for 70-200mm F/2.8 Mark II. It is a lovely lens. U never regret with the Mark II
