let's say if my camera is known to have weathersealing, does this mean that I can claim warranty when I got water damage in my camera?

Unless the camera is advertised as "Water-Resistant", otherwise the warranty will still be considered as void if its due to user's negligence.

so still no guarantees with weathersealing?? I pay premium for this feature alone and still cannot say this one will work or not in case I need very badly... so better bring extra plastic bag next time... :rolleyes:

Weather sealing does not mean its 100% waterproof. The purpose of the sealing is for protection against moisture and dust.

Equipment are meant to work and capture the image that you want, not to buy and spend time pampering it. I see many people spend more time cleaning their camera as compared to the time they spend on shooting. ;) You buy a car to drive around and bring you from one point to another, not to put at home to spend time polishing it. :bsmilie:

When equipment spoil, there is always the repair center.

100% Agreed!! :cool::thumbsup:

Hmmm, I thought when it is water resistant it should be tougher than that..
Then again I have had absolutely no issues when using my Pentax weather resistant DSLRs in the pouring rain. Then again there are more daring users like this...

not actually, but first thing that comes into my mind when they say "environmental sealing" with their advertised rubber seals and etc. is that these cameras can withstand at least minimal amount of drizzle if not splashes of water. I cannot say that I am as daring as that guy on the pictures but these cameras should give me enough protection when needed, say being stranded in the rain on a forest where there's no adequate shelter of any sort. For what I know, there are people who particularly picks these kind of cameras for these kind of application. I'm not flamebating though, just my opnion...

unrelated posts deleted.

stay on the topic, or else I will flash some colorful cards.
didn't I said this earlier in this thread?

boasting what other brand cameras can do are not helping TS.
camera is just a tool, getting a "better" tools will not, and never make ones a better photographer.

OT post deleted.

Since TS already send his camera for servicing, this thread locked to prevent any flame baiting posts, TS may PM me the outcome for update.

Here is the update of Thread starter's camera. :)
