Still under warranty....when I was drinking water, the water accidentally spill onto the camera.if I were to send it to canon, how long will it take for the servicing? Does the warranty cover for spilling of water on camera?

Shuk84, I feel your pain. Best to take the advice given already especially from Daddy Bear.

I'm wondering if the weather sealing on your 7D is defective? The 7D should be able to survive a spill of water on it. See the following DigitalRev video. Note the famous shower scene at 1:35 minute mark (you can imagine the psycho music playing in the background).

Dry it out over the week-end and take to CSC on Monday. Tell them the weather sealing did not protect your investment. Good luck!

I put my camera in a dry box already....I hope it works.....when it got spilt by water,I was using the 17-40mm L lens....thanks for all the advice given...I'm very unlucky today....

Try adding rice to surround the camera, it'll help to dry the body faster. Based on experience with "accidentally" dunking electronics into water. :S

ok...i try put rice,i hope it's work...but how long?

The 17-40 is an "L" lens and should be weather sealed. I really think that the weather sealing on your equipment has failed you. It is not as if you submerged your camera into the sea. All you did was spill a little water on it while drinking. The 7D is designed to take such abuse.

Even if the camera works after the drying out period, I would still take it and the 17-40 lens to CSC and have them check for any weather sealing defects.

1. open the 2 rubber flip (usb connect) , wipe out any water with a dry cloth or tissues.
2. open the battey cap, remove battery , wipe inside if it is wet.
3. Dry the battery.
4. throw all inside dry cabinet .

i have done it,thankz ikelvin.:)

Gee I hope everything works out for OP, I also got a 7D and while I've always taken care of my DSLRs with regards to water I did get caught out in the rain yesterday but continued to shoot because of the promise of weather sealing.

While it might be too late for the OP, I think a soft cool blow drying might quicken the dryout process short of any of the above suggested solutions.

The 17-40 is an "L" lens and should be weather sealed.

Yes the 17-40 is indeed weather sealed but sealing is only considered complete if a filter is put on the front. HOWEVER, not all L lenses are weather sealed.

get some hungry hippo too. maybe keep the 7D for another 2 - 3 days to make sure the water are completely dry. 2-3 days make not much difference to your warranty status anyway. rather than sending it in with water being found in your 7D which could most probbly void your warranty.

It doesn't matter, they WILL know. Manufacturers embed a small piece of paper (or paper like material) within their product. Once it comes in contact with water, it will change colour (and presumably doesn't change back to its original colour) so they will know for sure it has come into contact with water.

How do I know? Once my mobile phone stopped working and one of the things they want me to check was this little piece of paper like material inside the battery compartment. They asked me if it's still white so I asked why. They told me that's how they tell if there is water contact.

Was your sister's itouch turned on when she dropped it into the water?

all i can say... good luck bro!

can i know how weather sealing work on canon 7d?

can i know how weather sealing work on canon 7d?

It is quite simple. Weather sealing on the 7D is a series of rubber seals to block cracks and openings from the intrusion of dust and moisture.
