Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I just don't like it when people sugar coat stuff too much.
What's the use of offering someone your opinion when it's obviously biased? If it is, state so for the record. If one is able to offer the pros, he/she should be able to offer the cons as well so that people can make well informed decisions.

sorry, i dont see anything biased here. TS asked between d90 and 50d. so most of the replies come back to either get 50d or d90. i know pentax is a great brand. i've tried it and i've even considered it as my first dslr and in the future , if i were to get a new system i'd no doubt get a pentax, however, we're going off topic.

its not about brand brashing. pentax has gone up its marketing and no doubt the new distro is doing a better job than the previous one.

lets not start a brand war here. ts can choose what he/she likes .. unless of course TS asked for more opinons of other brands then i'd come in and start telling choose it too. from my past posts in the newbie section, i've always stated to consider the options open to try other brands too, but this TS went into specific models, so why not give the opinions straight to the poin rather than going around in circles..?

peace. we shoot, we learn from each other

Thanks all bros for the kind reply. Have got myself a 50D kit 18-200mm. :D

The Pentax K-7 is a prosumer model like the ~$2400 Canon 7D and ~$2440 Nikon D300s, that have the following features over the mid-ranged DSLRs:
- Weather resistance
- 100% View Finder
- Electronic Level
- AF assist lamp

I'd just like to put up these few pictures to refute the point that I have bolded...

The Nikon D3000: NOT even a mid-range DSLR.

D5000_18_55_front_i.jpg

The Nikon D5000: Also not really marketed as a mid-range DSLR.

Just goes to show how sometimes, information can be skewed to support a certain point of view...

yet another ENTRY-LEVEL DSLR

HI all bro,

Need some serious helps to getting a new DSLR.

Nikon D90 kit ( 18-105mm )
Canon 50D kit ( 18-55 )

Need some expert could advise which of the model above is better for long term invest.
Understand tat 50D specs is alittle better D90 but D90 model is newer. Video is not a must.
Just hope the money i spent is worth and without changing again and again on body.

P.S Newbie here :)
I was looking at the same 2 cameras... in the end went for D90. I think they are quite similar... but low light D90 edges. Which is the kind of pictures I take all the time...
