im quite new at this whats a decent price for a Canon EOS 1d MkII 2nd hand? im planning to upgrade from my 20d.

it shd be still in the region of $4k plus

Should be close to $4.5K depends on seller, condition etc. I believe i see one in B&S for $4.6K still having warranty 3 mths left, good deal IMO

Might want to wait till October as Canon may be releasing some new models at Photokina this month. Depending on what comes out, it might have an effect on used prices of the 1D2, imo.

agreed. hope to see more 1d series.

After that you won't want to buy a 1DmkII already. you will be looking at something more.. juicy :bsmilie:

whatever the case, the 1D series, whatever the model, is still a good workhorse of a camera.

Certainly is, I'm still hanging on tight to my 1D2 after almost 2 years. Great cam...

Buy only what you need and what you can afford.

The 1 series is an excellent cam and it makes taking shots in certain difficult situations seems so easy with this beast.

agreed. i was looking for the weather seal feature.

I'd prefer the 45 AF points and FF...
The 1.3x crop suits me fine. Actually I like the cropping factor of the 1D series...it is a good compromise...not too tight and yet also wide enough. And the additional reach is welcome when the situation calls for it.

Despite its age, the 1D MkII is still an excellent cam. Whatever the case, you will find it a big step up from your current 20D. For most amateur and pro photographers, it more than satisfies most of their needs. Unless you need to print really large, in which case you should look at the much more expensive brother, 1Ds MkII. But 8.2 megapixels is fine and should be more than adequate enough for most applications.

Current market rate is abt 4.5k-4.6k for used, good condition sets...if you can find one with low shutter actuation for that amt., go get it...you won't regret.
