Objections from us? Heh, you're the user, you should go try out the setup before spending the cash, make sure you don't have objections ;) I think it's a good setup, the 430 EX II is a tad weak for my taste, but this isn't my setup :bsmilie:

if you intend to get the flash, get the 580EX2 instead;p

hmmmm ok I am getting the 580ex2

  • Canon EOS 40D (Body - $1320) + Canon 17-55 f2.8 (Lens - $1400) + 430EX (Flash - $400)
  • Canon EOS 40D (Body - $1320) + Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 (Lens - $850) + 24-70mm f/2.8 (Lens - $?)

The second option's range suits you but, but, it's third party the built quality, image quality might not be as good as Canon.

thanks guys, i bought the 50d with 18-200mm already, getting the flash 580ex2 today and 17-55 next month.....thanks.

is it me or the focusing screen (the place we put our eye to focus) supposed to be "noisy"? my 400d is with my gf, never noticed it before lol

u mean the viewfinder? and what do you mean by "noisy"?

yeah view finder.....grainy like you put high iso lol

hmm i don't think it should be like that. never experienced anything like that with my 450D

is the whole viewfinder like that or only part of it?

whole thing, very uniform like looking through a plastic sheet

50D+EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM+430EXII

Any objections? If no, getting tomorrow? Sitex will have better offers (freebies) or not? currently only 4gb + canon bag

I thnk is good setup.
i personally prefer 24-70L

depend on what u shoot...17-55 give you the wide edge but lose out on tele...i traded my 24-70 to 17-55 due to it weight and also the wide angle
