Hi,

nice to meet you all. Planning to get a DSLR soon (maybe next week) because still thinking which DSLR to start with as a newbie in DSLR.

By that time hope can learn from all the master ans sifu here and take some nice photo.

Hello...welcome.

Given today's technology, all entry level cameras are good enough to produce good pictures if you used them within their limits. Do shortlist a few cams which is within your budget and compare the features offered, then go to a shop to tr them out to see if the cam is comfortable to your hands. Pay some attention to the user interface and see if the cam is user friendly enough for you. Do not listen to the sales person as they are more interested to get your sale and give them the commission. Go with your heart and get the one that suits you and you're most comfortable with.

Welcome to CS:) That's right, do your homework 1st;)

Welcome to the club, do take a moment and read through the threads (especially stickies), you'll find numerous discussions about camera choices.

Dare to buy, dare to shoot, dare to post, and dare to take criticism. That's how we all start off =)

Cheers.

u do not need a dslr to take good photos...use ur current camera to learn stuff like composition...

Hi karlyau. A very warm welcome to you.

yeah i agree with nysheng... and maybe after reading this http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/notcamera.htm you can save your money in pocket.. ;p

Meh. The Nikon evangelist? Naaah.

A DSLR is a major, and personal, investment. You can't let others decide for you which one to get. You need to figure out your budget and then try all brands. See which one just feels "right" for you.

If you want a 'more impartial' review, read www.dpreview.com. Even then there is definitely slight bias towards certain brands there.

Now on selecting camera, its hard to pick a DSLR if you don't have any idea. And if you were to go try it out in a shop, the sales person tends to push you towards certain brands.

How about joining some outings in CS groups, particularly those brand specific-groups that will give you exposure to different brands and at the same time there will be experienced folk to talk to you about DSLRs. I'm sure you will be wiser after a few outings and be in a good position to pick a good camera.

Thank for the welcome.

I plan to buy one DSLR because give my current digicam to my sis. Since plan to buy another new camera so just take this chance to invest in a DSLR.

Been going around those camera shop recommend my the member here for some time.

It is really very difficult to choose which DSLR to go with because everyone saying the different thing.

I believe the budget play a big part of it. So what can i do is just try to get a set of DSLR that is within my budget.

if canon and nikon can have promotions for less than $1000 for a dslr.. i'm sure u can find better deals at reputable shops.
what's ur budget anyway?

my budget is around 1.5k++

ur budget quite alot. get a sony alpha550 at 1.2k from friendly shop and u will not regret. u can go check out reviews on that before u purchase

there are quite alot of comments on 500D, A500/550 in the canon and sony area. maybe u can read them and decide. i've done my research before purchasing my A330. sony is a uprising and strong brand. just that it came out dslr later than the rest.

Well... When you consider that they bought Minolta... it could be seen as a continuation of the Minolta line. :)
