Heard of a $2.2k foldable bicycle?

Actually, the purchase was NOT made through the official Brompton distro. As such, they do not get the usual 5 years warranty, etc. That's the point that was raised by a commentator on the ST article (the poster is the actual Brompton distro).

no wonder. i can't see the comments :bsmilie:

so i guess some Female IT Executive sealed her deal with some hard cash from the NParks Personnel :bsmilie:

Who's decision to make these extravagant purchases?

Who approved?

Who are the people who tender for the purchase contracts?

How were these tender's sought?

How many of such tenders were considered?

What were the factors and reasons for the decision upon going with the selected vendor instead of the rest?

Was the minister consulted before such decision was made?

Is there a need to buy 26 at one go?

Why not buy 6 first as trial run before considering to buy 26 if it works well?

Too many questions they need to answer.

I am really skeptical they need it foldable because staffs will be bringing it up buses and trains. Lets see the usage over the next few months to years.

One tender from a retailer that is not from the (Diginexx) distributor, almost like buying without even blinking at the price, and not bothering to look for a better quote. It is silly to resign to buying overpriced item just because opps only one retailer responded. If the tenders do not come, surely they can be a little more proactive to source instead ?

No one will argue if an Npark official decided fund with his or her own money to splurge on a top end Cervelo to do park patrol. But we are talking about public funds. Is it too demanding to ask for accountability ?

Can CAD come on board and investigate to exclude any irregularities in tenders or unfair procurement..
Maybe after they finish with their current "big projects" at hand .

If you think paying $2,200 for a bicycle for park usage is reasonable, I can only say that you are out of touch with money! maybe we have too much reserves!

Fortunately they never buy Segway :)

Actually long ago, the traffic police highway patrol pampered themselves with extremely expensive luxury BMWs costing lots of $$$.
I was waiting to see when they would buy for themselves, gold plated Rolls Royce Phantoms to go on traffic patrols.
Surely a cheaper car would have sufficed. Compared to that waste of public funds, the $2.2K bicycle is small potatoes.

there's a reason for high-powered vehicles. and these cops who drive those cars aren't your run-of-the-mill cops. they're trained to drive at high speed and to control the car

btw What reason are you implying?

They are trained at high speed and they can control so??? They can chased down a speeding car so???? What is the reason for the high powered car that u are stating?

To chase a high speeding car to see the damn driver face?? Or see if he is having oral sex from executive ??

"oh hypocrisy, hypocrisy.... wherefore art thou, my conscience?"

A cheaper Subaru WRX would suffice. No need to buy BMW. Also no need to have prolonged high speed chase in Singapore. With HQ coordinated radio control, further down the road are other police patrol cars waiting with a road block.

you have a point. however... the WRX is notably also one of the cars that is usually used for racing as well. there is also the need to show people that they're a class above the rest.

in the states, how do you separate the low-class hooligans from the mafia? simple, the dressing.
