Have you ever have to use the Sunny 16 rule?

Just confused on this part
sunny --> f16 1/100
cloudy --> need more light hence change ONE variable

But don't you need to change TWO variables ?
ie:

Aperture change:
f11 1/125
shouldn't it be f11 1/250 ?
(shutter changed to compensate aperture change)

Shuttter change:
f16 1/60
shouldn't it be f22 1/60 ?
(aperture changed to compensate shutter change)

If you change both variables, you are merely having the same exposure with diff aperture and shutter setting.

You must also remember that f16, 1/100s refers to ISO 100.

If you are using ISO 400, your shutter follows 1/400s.

For non-mid tonal shots like snow, white swan, white polar bear in a white snowy landscape, f/16 rule becomes f/22 rule.

f/22, shutter = 1/100s, ISO 100.

In my architectural landscape shots, Chymes building was shot with sunny f16 rule. Perfect exposure with no need for post processing.

Step one of using the Ultimate Exposure Computer states that you should switch to manual mode. The Ultimate Exposure Computer will not be able to control the camera in any other modes.

Try picking up a book on photography. It's easier to read a book than a page online, and these books probably explains exposure concepts much better than most of us here. It'll be easier to understand.

After that, read that page on the Untimate Exposure Computer again and you'll be able to make use of that

if conditions were sunny, f16 1/125 is acceptable exposure setting. But it's not sunny, it's CLOUDY, hence need more light.

f16 1/125 is the same exposure as f11 1/250 and f22 1/60 it's for sunny situations. But you have cloudy conditions, so you'd want more light to strike the film, so you either open up your aperture, but retain the speed, or slow down the shutter but retain your aperture. in either case, only 1 variable is changed. You want MORE light because it's not actually sunny. Get it?

Aiyah, your cam will not give you automatic f16 and 1/125 lah, provided you are metering the middle tone color on sunny day. Thats why knowing proper metering is very important. Here see your own thread: http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=43752
