have sirui prices gone up?

Im after a R1204 + G20 which previously seem to go for $239.

On TK website, the combo now comes with E10 ballhead. And the separate combo price is $320. Huge price difference.

so wondering if prices gone up.

i'm after a budget tripod around $200 or a bit more. at $239 seems ok but if truly 320 will forget about it.

Not sure which price list you are reading.

The R1204 + E10 combo is still $239. And if you add $30 more you can get the R2204 + E20 at $269.

Not sure where you are reading the list from either.. I can't even find an item in the tk price list that cost $320.

I think I understand you liao.

The Combo R1204+E10(ballhead) cost around S$239. But since you want a R1204 (S$199) + G20X (S$110) which come up to be around S$309.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Anyway, I think Sirui hadn't gone up in price (theoretically), the E-series ballhead is kinda new and I think they are differentiating their productline. They are no longer offering G-series ballhead for their T and R series tripod.

But if you ask me, E-10 ballhead is actually good enough for quite a number of works too.

Yes that's correct. I read in past searches R1204 + G10 = $239. But TK site says E10 head so I thought it went up in price.

The G series head has been ugraded to GX and is stronger and.priced higher. The E10 and E20 heads are very similar to G10 and G20 heads respectively. Just that they are made slightly more compact.

o i c.... thanks for the update. I was scratching my head last night trying to figure out what this E10/E20 business was.

Is it worth upgrading to G10/G20 for use on a D7000? Just some prime lens and stock lens. Nothing heavy or fancy.

Can I also ask if there are any updates to the recommendation regarding tripods?

I see not much talk in last 2 years regarding this.

Basically looking for one under $200. My gear is only a D7000 with kit lens and prime lens. Nothing heavy or fancy. And I'm not intending to get something large either.

Was thinking of the R1004 with G10 (or now E10/20) head.

Got friend of mine say Sirui lock mechanism not as good as others like manfrotto. His not working so well after 2 years.

I have 3 sirui tripods and one manfrotto. The siruis are all fine. Sirui tripods are easy to disassemble and clean too. And you get that 6 year warranty. If there is a problem, just bring it in to TK foto to get it looked at. As for my manfrotto, I have owned 2 manfrottos in my life, the problem is that the screws that hold the twist locks together tend to rust out. I had to replace some of them with stainless steel screws.

For more stability, I would go for the R2004 instead.

As for ball head, you want something solid and series, look at the KX series of ballheads.

PS, I sold my gitzo and replaced it with a sirui. And I also use my 7 kg birding setup on a sirui...

tripod can last forever if taken care properly, and it won't get outdated.
it is not only useful when you want shoot long exposure with landscape. you can use it for many other types of shoot, it makes you slow down, think more careful about your framing and composition, these are the keys for better photos.
so it worth to spend a little more on a decent tripod.
