Hi Guys ,

The last HUG was great .
Loads of people turned up , from Benny Ang to Lint from Vietnam .

Many thanks to TS SIM who introduced the many ways one could do fashion with only one light . With guest appearance by Ellen Lim from SPH .
Thanks to Edward Hendricks for showing some of his Interior works with the HTS 1.5 .
And to Skye Tan and Francis for the Glamour session with the Profoto Sticklight.

Congradulations to our Lucky Draw prize winners and young Joseph for winning the grand prize of a H3DII 31 ! . . . . for a weekend la .

Finally , we are forever greatful to Denis and Shriro Singapore for hosting and sponsoring the monthly events ! :p

And the free use of the Hasselblad Scanner !
Neoro must have saved quite a bit - and the quality was zo good !

Always a pleasure. Heres a "true" black and white. Self-developed for maximum tonality:

Anyone who luvs photography and admire the Hasselblad Camera can join in .
( you don't even have to own one ).
Every first Tuesday of the month at Shriro House . Normally 7-9 pm .
You can see all the classic Hasselblads and lenses on display and play with the new H3DIIs and CFV 39 for your V series Camera .
Denis says we can expect to see the H4D 40 on 6th April edition of HUG .
And check out the images David Grover took with the H4D of Hong Kong night scenes.

Coming over from RF forum. A Leica guy who just got poisoned by Hassey after our last RF outing. Just bought a 500C/M with 80 Zeiss. Hope to learn more here.

Just touched the H4D-40. Compared to the H3D-39, focussing is slightly faster and you can shoot hand-held at ISO800, F2.8, 1/125 and still get away with a respectable result.
The noise is film-grainy - which is nice!
Hope Denis is able to get a demo unit in for April HUG!

thanks for being the scenes pictures. At least we knew what happened!

Just checking, anyone here has had issues with keeping a stable tethered connection from their Hassy to a Macbook Pro? Does it help sending the unit in for servicing or is this an issue that has to be lived with?

Pros shoot tethered most of the time . The problem usually ls with the firewire cable .
Always have new spares . Any contact problem or internal damage through wear would distrupt the flow of information .
Also , the new mac book pro comes only with firewire 800 points only .
Due to power saving and more features the power allocated for the 800 is much lower than the old mac books ( with firewire 400). So, some proffessonals have switched back to the older macbooks for stability .
Meanwhile , poor contact material and longer cables are out .
This problem exists for all cameras like the Phase , Mamiya and Leaf .
External Firewire boosters also help .
Check out Granite Digital .

How about firewire on PCs...you know the kind which run Windows 7 only.....any recommendations? Most don't come with a firewire port...

Thanks for the link, glad to know I am not alone.... Just one more quick query for feedback, if contact wear is any issue, is it possible that the wear is occuring at the connection point on the digital back and servicing the back may help?

I've used the 3m FW800 to 400 given by Hasselblad on the H3D-22 for about 2 years... no problems. But there was a problem when I switched to a 3rd party 7.5 or 10m cable.
Dropped to a 5m cable and the tethered connection became rather stable. Only develops a problem 1 out of 50 times after that. Previously with the longer cables it was every shoot.
Halcy0n - you can try and send the back in to see if it IS indeed a connection problem. One trick I've developed is to gaffer the connections at both ends each time I shoot when I'm encountering problems.

Pchong - you will need to get a PCI-Express IO card like Belkin's F5U602. Look around - there are many available online. Belkin is in SimLimSquare : 1 Rochor Canal Road #03-33...
If you seriously want to still run Windows, then get a Mac and install XP or Vista on it. The firewire will be supported natively and you don't need to be subject to driver problems.
