Has anyone tried the Nikkor AF 35mm f/2D with your FX camera?

Hi

The 35mm f2 is my most used lens on the Nikon system. Well actually, the 35mm focal length is my most used focal length on any system I have used...

For this reason, I don't consider the Nikon lens system complete without a modern and updated 35mm f1.4... Let's hope they will release one in oh.... the next 10 years!

While the 35mm f2 is not perfect optically (I guess only German made ones are :P), it is small, discreet, light and it goes to f2 AND it focuses down to 25cm (try THOSE on the 24-70!) and it gives a brighter viewfinder view than any standard zoom. I don't have issues with its sharpness - it's sharp enough for me, even wide open.

I do have issues with its bokeh at certain focus distances / subjects. But I can live with it..

Anyway here's my informal comparison of the 35mm f2 and Nikon's latest standard zoom the 24-70 AFS at the 35mm setting.

I don't see much of a difference!

agree. I had a tried a sharp copy of the 35mm f/2 on a DX camera. Pretty satisfied with it.

quite nice. for some reason the 35mm has it's charm.
anyone used the T4 (PnS w Carl Zeiss T* f3.5) before? i took many nice pics w that camera.
