Very beautiful color but lack the brightness.

Real pro...!How about your lighting set-up?

nicely done there. i like~~

Thanks for all the compliments.

To answer a few comments and questions

1. Brightness is not an issue. I did not adjust the brightness cause i do not have a calibrated screen. Even if I have a calibrated screen, I may not want to adjust cause it may look kind of different in the photo lab that I usually go to. I trust my lab developer to do a good job and he is good (formerly a fotoplus developer). I have learnt that screen is quite different from print. It is the print that counts.

However, the exposure must be even. That is the thing that I always look out for.

2. As for the lighting setup, 3 speedlights being used. All manually controlled.

The lighting set up looks very flat to me. Like there is not any main light source to have some highlights.

I think I know what you are trying to say and I would like to know more. What kind of highlights are you referring to?

For the fill flash part, the output seems ok. But for the main flash output, it seems like it is not strong enough to bring out more eye or hair sparkle. The flash ratio between all the flash(main and fills) seems to be too similar and hence the flat lighting. But maybe thats your preference. I prefer it with a stronger main light setting for more impact, haha! Thats why some of the comments of your images being dark. But otherwise, they are fine.

For family portraits, it is important to have even exposure as everyone is the centre of focus in the family.

However, for single portraits, I will use a different light ratio to give a different effect. This can be seen in the first 3 photos. However, the 3 dimensional effect can be better if i have more time that day

Ihsan, your brother-in-law is Ismail, the one in grey? Ages since I last saw him in person.
