I hope I got that right? That you can render in real-time, or something? Please pardon my ignorance! :p

I've heard of h/w like Matrox RT.X, but I think these cost pretty much an arm and leg, especially for casual users like myself. Snazzy seems to have many products, but I don't really know what they do. Would like to speed up the editing/DVD authoring process and doing it by software is reallllly slooow...

Ideas anyone?

I sell Matrox RTX100 and was working with Snazzi before. real time means 1 to 1. 1hr of video will take 1hr to record. But, apart from capturing you also have editing, and during editing you will apply effects and transitions and some of these may not be realtime and will need to render (and you have to wait until that portion is rendered) before you can view the effects or transitions applied, finally, output (especially to dvd) is not realtime (unless you have a capture card like Matrox RTX100 (which gives you realtime output to dvd). It doesn't cost an arm and a leg, its only about $1,100.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info.

Just for comparison's sake, are there any other alternatives to the RT.X?

Yes, Canopus Storm, Pinnacle Liquid Edition.

I am using Canopus DvStorm. Very fast and reliable. Done hundreds of weddings. Never dissapoint my customer. Good card.

Have you tried Sony Vegas video suite. Pretty powerful and will speed up depending on PC hardwares you have (more RAMs, better Video card and CPU).

Dodol,

i have a Canopus DVStorm as well. Do you suggest Procoder 2.0 or the daughterboard for rendering?

thanks

I am not using Procoder 2, instead I am using Mainconcept Mpeg Encoder. Its more reliable and better quality. The rendering is also much more faster than Procoder.
