hey guys. i got my Nikon a couple of weeks back as my birthday present. but after using my friend's d70s for a couple of weeks before buying mine, i realized there was quite alot of difference.
last night while i was shooting some stuff up in esplanade my friend's d70s photos seemed to have more light in his pictures at a faster speed too. i told him and he set mine to the exact specs. but my pictures came out so so different, as in mine's more dark. why is this so? fellow d80 users?
ISO, aperture?... etc all same? 100%?
filter?

I have a friend who have a D70. His D70 tends to overexpose with similar settings compared to my D80 and my other friend's D200... and this is in a studio setting. It seems that his D70's metering is quite off... we are talking about >1 stop difference.

wicked. thanks for the input. my friend's who's a much more experienced photographer said my focus thing is on the left and his is in the middle, why is this so?

How about the ISO setting? Was that the same too?

just got mine today, without the kit lens   :D

Hee, I just got mine on last thursday too. 1900 nett for kit.:)

Shooting all over the shop, chinatown, orchard road, taka, .... Its fun!;)

Oh yah.. D70s minimum ISO is 200 while the D80 is ISO100, that's a stop of difference if you used the same shutter speed and aperture and didn't check the ISO.

Hi guys,
I am currently using Nikon D80. Just bought it like 1 mth back. Recently went on a trip and while on the trip i realise there is lines across the spot sensors(even with grid turn off). Seems like the black colour of the sensors is runny causing a line to form. Tried to blow it off but cannot. Anyone has this??

Besides this i'm very happy with the camera. But the lines very distracting lah

Thanks

i think getting d200 hurt my bank and wallet more than my back and shoulders...
tho after the recent drop in price for d200, it is still about 600-700 more than d80 (body only)

haha I agree.. the D200 and D80 have very similar features. If you're a garang action/sports shooter, please don't torture yourself with the D80. The buffering speed and size not fast enough imo (only 5-6 shots) while the D200 will take you all the way to 14 frames.

Other that this, i love the D80.. power in a compact package!

I believe they are power threads to enable the sensors to be lighted up...

yup.. it is absolutely normal.. i asked this question when i first owned a D70 2 years ago.. dont bother to "make it away".. hahaha

I had the same problem too, which intially I thought it was a problem, then start to kan jiong want to go back and exchange it. But after seeing the viewfinder in dpreview or somewhere else I forgot, haha yeah I worried too much. :bsmilie: It's normal!

today went to lords, D80 kit (no gifts) they quote at $1860 (inc gst).
is it price drop or new nikon coming out soon?

D80 kit for $1860 incl of gst??? what lens? i tot it was bout 1900?

Think the D80 kit price is coming down. One shop in Orcahrd Plaza quoted me 1650 for the D80 with kit lens before gst. No card but with warranty. Since i was in a hurry that day could'nt buy. The shop is in the ground floor. With the IT fair coming next month I am expecting more goodies.

must get b4 july 1st...before the gst hike, if not have to spend 'extra' S$35 (around dere) to get a D80 kit.

Currently saving for a D80, my first foray into Nikon DSLRs. Now using a Canon 350D (borrowed) and can't pick up my old point and shoot anymore, it just feels so different taking photos with a slr.
